All done for 2023

 It was a nice day on Sunday, so we tackled the last of leaves to be picked up outside.   We have been picking them up for a while now.  The trees with the leaves on are oak.  Sometimes they drop at this time of year, other times it's not until the new year.

The back yard looks so much better tidied up for winter.

Front all spruced up, it was such a lovely morning.

To try and save the amount of bags we used, hubby mulched all the leaves, using his leaf blower.

That is grated up Irish Spring soap.  We have had a mouse problem all summer.  One of the things we were told to do is grate up Irish Spring soap as the mice don't like the smell.  Neither do I....but we have the freshest smelling shed around.

We have got rid of the mice, but only because we inserted steel wool in all the ventilation gaps in the shed.   We figured out they were getting in there.

As I said another bonus now is our shed smells so fresh!

Good news for Molly

Took Molly to the vets on Thursday and she did biopsies on three of her lumps and they came out cancer free......YEAH!!!!!!

However, still puzzled why her lymph nodes are so enlarged, and we go back in a month to see if there is any change.  She is concerned about the size of Molly's stomach, but as I said she is just hungry all the time.  I am feeding her 1 cup of food twice a day, which is normal for a 40 lb dog.  The Vanectyl P pills are a steroid and she is having one twice a day and her allergies are still bad.  We are also going to do blood work to make sure her liver is still working well, as that is also a side effect of these pills.

Molly did very well during her examination and prodding and poking.  Though by the time the vet stuck the thermometer up her butt I think she had, had enough and made her feelings known!!!  So it was quite a relief to us that she is cancer free and a relief to our bank account that it only cost $75 instead of the $1,100 it would of cost if she had, had to have surgery.

Bit of a mystery around here.  I have mouse traps set in the old basement and two have disappeared.  I have looked high and low for them and can't find them.  They were all set to catch mice, so have no idea what on earth has happened?

The mice are back, caught two overnight on Friday night.  We're a bit puzzled as to where they may be getting in, but figure it could be through the new basement. 

I had a few packets of Ramen Noodles in the pantry that I decided to donate to shelter.  I also wanted to print a recipe to include with the packages that I had used before and is pretty easy to make and very budget friendly.  I found the recipe on this post I did a while ago with a number of other links of budget friendly recipes.  Thought for anyone who is relatively new to my blog, it may be worth a peek.

The kids came up on Saturday to do a couple of jobs for us and to celebrate dh's birthday, which is on Monday.  Dd made her dad a cake.

She did a good job, although I must say the cake was very sweet.  I am in charge of making her birthday cake in November, so will have to figure out what to do.

We all went out for dinner last night at a road side diner just down the road.  Place is a bit rough, but the food is good, and its makes a change from the usual chain restaurants.

I am going to be busy on Sunday, because as per usual I have left it to last minute in making my quilt blocks from the block of the month club.  The meeting is on Tuesday and I have stuff planned for Monday, so Sunday is the only day left to do them.........
