"Bloody" pain..........

Went to have blood work done this morning, had an 8:30 am appointment.  Got in right away and it was the nurse who had tried to take blood from me last time.  She had so much trouble last time she had to get someone else to do it and they managed to get blood from me right away.

I mentioned this too her, saying you had trouble last time, but decided to give her another chance, plus I drank more water than I did the time before.  Anyhow, she tried my right arm with no luck, then tried my left arm with no luck, so back to my right arm this time using a child's needle and managed to get some blood flowing.

However, the pain was awful, I mean bloody awful, you would have thought she was jabbing the needle in harder and twisting it around.  It got to the point I couldn't stand it anymore and said enough.  She had one vial full, but the other was only maybe a quarter full if that.  I told her at this point she had to get someone else, as no way was she touching me again.

I broke out in a total body sweat; like a hot flash on steroids.  I was nauseous and did not feel well at all.  Another nurse came and took blood from me no issue............meanwhile my right arm looks like this:

It is so sore; I am not happy. Told the second nurse that in future I will be asking her to draw blood.................

Trying to get blood out of a stone.

That is what it is like when I have bloodwork done.  I mean they've even taken to using the children's needles to get blood.  Finding a vein is a long painful process as well.  So last Friday when I had to have blood work done, I was not looking forward to it.  We were however using a different clinic in the town where we have moved too, so I was praying and hoping things might be easier.

It was, thank goodness, the only thing that hurt was the tap, tapping trying to find a vein.  I was so pleased and thankful I came out of there smiling.  Never thought anything more, until Monday and I was talking to my dad on the phone and he mentioned he was going for bloodwork.  So I told him my story and looked at my arm.
Now that photo doesn't really show you what it is really like, but I am all bruised.  I was puzzled as she didn't hurt me?  My dad said I maybe lifted something heavy, well I carry my handbag on my left arm and she took blood from my right?   Otherwise I didn't lift anything heavy that day.  Very puzzling.

I knit my first dishcloth and will gift it to dd, as she never has any dishcloth's at her house.
I went to the knit and sit despite being sick as I wanted to make a start on knitting a hat. I only stayed a couple of hours though. The pattern is "knit in the round," which although I knew what it meant, I couldn't get my head around it as how to do it.
Now I am telling you, without the ladies help I would never have been able to do this.  Now that I have done this, it's pretty easy.  I am using this pattern, except no stripes and it is for a toddler.  I am also a follower on their blog as it's so good.  I was telling dh that there is hope for me with this knitting!

Finally thank you everyone for your great comments yesterday.  It was really interesting to read why people blog, don't you think?  If I didn't comment back on your blog, my apologies.

Summer is back again and other stuff...

Monday was a glorious day weather wise, mind you I saw a touch of frost on the ground up the road from us first thing Monday morning.  We're going to be up in the high 80's with the humidity today?  All very, very strange!

First thing on Monday we went to get blood work done and one of the nurses I think was a trainee.  It took three tries before she could get any blood out of me........all the while she was tapping on my arm trying to find the vein and the more she tapped the more sicker I felt!!  I have never had this trouble before; all very interesting!!

We went to breakfast straight after that and it was good.  For $5.75 we had two fried eggs, fried potatoes, four rashers of bacon and two rounds of toast, with a cup of tea or coffee (free refills.)

After popping home to hang out a load of laundry we went to Barrie to the mall.  I wanted to get dh a new pillow and I think pillows are a very personal thing that you should pick out yourself.  Anyhow got him that, and while I was at the mall figured I should have a quick look around!!!  Picked up dd a Christmas Present (wink! wink!)  Dd reads this blog!

We then popped into Lowes to check out the prices on "blue wood."  While there dh saw the tool below and decided to purchase it along with some replacement blades for it.  I had given him $150 for his birthday and my dad and step-mum gave him $60.  The tool and replacement blades came to $203 leaving him $7 leftover.  He bought some new laces for his boots, $4, so now he has $3 to fritter on anything he wants....LOL

We got home at 1:30 pm had a quick bite to eat and did a couple of quick jobs, and then we were back out of the house, to be at the bank for 3pm to meet with the financial planner.  Two hours later the meeting was over with.  Have some things to sort out and meet with her again in a couple of weeks.  She's going to Britain on vacation so it gives us chance to get things sorted.

Got home around 5:30 pm, popped a pizza in the oven and wondered where on earth the day went too!!

Back to "normal" today as dh is back at work............those three weeks just flew by......

Some food photos from Ottawa

I finally got around to sorting out some food photos from Ottawa. Pubwells on Sussex. We sat out on the patio and it was a lovely atmosphere...
