Crazy busy

Our son and daughter-in-law have gone away on a business trip, so we're babysitting the boys.  The boys are 4 and 7, and are full of energy.  I just wish I have a tiny bit of their energy...LOL  They're really good, but when you're not as active as them it's tiring for sure.

They are such a lovable pair and have lots to say on everything.  When I put them to bed on a night, we go over all the good things that has happened that day, and the 4 year old, just loves that.  It's making me smile just writing this.  I asked him what he dreamt about and he said he was talking to Santa.......he had a huge smile on his face.........such innocence.

First morning we took them to school we got there just in the nick of time.  The second time we were overly early, so now we just need to get it right.  I have found being organized is a key to getting out of the house in good time, otherwise it's like herding cats!!

They live a five to ten minute walk from school, so we walk back and forth.  One thing I don't like is the amount of people who bring huge dogs to school with them to pick up the kids.  I love larger dogs, more so than the small ones who nip.  However the other day a woman with a dog who was 100 to 120lbs was right by the gate at the Kindergarten and was announcing loudly her dog just loved children and would do them no harm.   Yeah right 😕  Said dog didn't like other dogs though, and up strolled another woman with a mid-sized dog and went right for the large dog.

Last summer we were picking up our older grandson who was in Grade 1 at the time and up strolled a woman with a "pit-bull like" dog and a snake wrapped round her neck?????  I gave her a wide birth, not for the dog, but the bloody snake...LOL

Anyhow, so this is why I am not visiting your blogs, as in between babysitting, and being at their house, I am prepping for a Christmas party our daughter and I are having at our house this weekend.  Next week it should settle down and I will have more time to visit everyone's blogs.

Have a good week!

Sharks in the Water! 🦈

So we were babysitting on the weekend.  Babysat the boys, Saturday into Sunday while their parents were away.  The weather was awful with a lot of rain and Liam picked up a stomach bug so was in bed early poor thing.

Evan will be 3 this coming Saturday and he LOVES the video below.  I mean really, really LOVES this video.

Now to be fair when you first watch it, it's quite catchy don't you think?  However after watching it 100 times (slight exaggeration!!), it does start to get on your nerves; just saying!!!

This guy is the Australian version of Blippi.

Now between me and you I don't know who is worse.  Blippi's voice gets on my nerves, so maybe Go Danny, or is it Danny Go(?) wins.

Remember when Barney was the hit for all younger kids?  Sesame Street has stood the test of time.

The one thing I do enjoy is being able to watch kids movies with the kids.  I would never think of doing that other wise!

Is there a particular kids character you enjoy?

Wednesday was a good day............

I started off the day baking some Peanut Butter cookies, using this recipe.

Now the reason I made these; I was gifted a small box of Hershey Kisses for helping a neighbour with her garage door.  Honestly it was nothing, it wouldn't shut and I told her someone had moved her sensor, so moved it for her.

The cookies were okay, a little too sweet, but they made a nice change.

Later on in the morning Liam came to stay with us, as both his parents were working.

So we went to MacDonalds for lunch.  This location had just been renovated and it was really nice.  We got a gift card for Christmas and it came with a coupon for a free Big Mac.  So I had that for my lunch.  I don't know when I last had a Big Mac and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Liam had his usual kids meal.  Did you know that you can now order an "Adult Happy Meal," and that too comes with a toy.

When we got home Liam and I did some painting.  I will say I am not a fan of painting, even kids painting.  Liam was happy and it was educational, trying to remember what colours mixed together, made other colours.
Then no visit would be complete without watching Blippi and playing with lego.
If you're a parent of small children, or a grandparent of small children you know who Blippi is.  Hate is a strong word, but I am so very close to hating Blippi.........just saying!!  He is the most annoying person around......a rich one no doubt but still annoying.  His voice grates on me.

He was picked up around 3:30 pm a happy camper.  Thoroughly enjoyed myself, but will say I was tired.

Penguins and Monster's, oh my!

On Saturday I was on babysitting duty while Our Little Munchkin's parents went on a "date," to the boat show.

I picked up these cookies for our treat, you can read more about them here:
We had fun biting off their heads, and then the "arms."  I also showed Munchkin how to walk like a penguin.  At Christmas we had Christmas Crackers that had wind up penguins in them.  I brought that game down so we played with the wind up penguins for a bit. I got the Christmas Crackers from Pier 1 , 2016's Christmas Crackers are going to be these ones.  All bought on sale of course!

After we played with the penguin's I brought out the monster book.
You had to put the eyes, nose and mouth on the monster's faces.  They are reusable stickers so she should get a bit of use out of them.

Then she decided to go "grocery shopping,"
The only problem with that is it is really hard to carry three baskets, and trying to push your grocery trolley with teddy in it, with only two arms!!

She was a delight and very well behaved.  She is growing up so fast and you can actually have a conversation with her and get somewhere!!

Little Munchkin's outfit is from Gymboree, this top and these leggings, all bought on sale of course.

My poor little munchkin.....

she is as sick as a dog AGAIN.  Poor thing can't catch a break; but neither can her mam or dad.  It's doing the round's in their house.  Since our Little Munchkin started daycare she has been sick nearly every single week.

I went down to their house to babysit on Wednesday as she is too sick to go to daycare and both parents had to go to work.

She is normally a bundle of energy who can't sit still.  She even laid down on the sofa with her best friend Globo. Very unlike her.

She's struggling to sleep as she keeps coughing.
Been to the doctor and they said it was viral???  Dad looking after her today and Mam looking after her on Friday.  Poor thing also has gas and a bubbly tummy.  Those diapers were an experience that's for sure!!

Babysitting Miss Nora............

Here is the little cherub:
Doesn't that face say "I am so sweet!!"

It was our son's 30th birthday on April 4th and dd decided to throw him a surprise party, which by all accounts was a success.  We were invited, but as it didn't start until 9pm and that is our bedtime we decided to pass and babysit our little cherub!!

Nora's parent left just after 6 pm and I had a list of instructions on what to do and what not to do and when.  So as per the instructions we could feed her, her squash and pears (in that order) around 6:30 pm.  So I put her in the high chair and she DID NOT like that one bit and was very vocal about it.  So fine we took her out and decided to calm her down, but that didn't really work.  So figured as per the list she had to have a bath around 7 pm.  Well she has this fold up thing like this which was perfectly fine when Miss Nora was tiny but at 16 lbs, she is squished in there.  Again suffice to say she wasn't happy about having a bath either and the way she arched her back I was surprised she didn't escape.  Miss Nora's parents are buying another bigger bath for her, but hadn't got it before the weekend.

So got her all dried and dressed and she still isn't happy.  Walked her up and down and she stops wailing and even manages to smile at us.  By this point we are heading towards to 8 pm mark, and we still haven't fed her.  Oh and by this point the bloody list has been thrown out.  Managed to get her fed, by giving her the pear first and then slipping in the squash.  She wouldn't take the bottle for love or money though and starts wailing again.

To cut a long story short I finally got her in the crib at 11 pm.  Poor dh had to be up at 3:30 am to go to work.  There is a footpath in the living room carpet now where we/I walked her back and forward.  Dh and I were exhausted.  We couldn't get over how someone so small can cause so much chaos!!!  Dd and son-in-law came home around 1:30 pm and went to bed.  Miss Nora got up for a feed around 5:30 am and then slept to 8:30 am.  She was back to sleep by 10 am until after 12 noon as she was that tired..........I wonder why!!!

It's when she turns at you and smiles and talks to you your heart just melts, then she has a hissy fit a minute later.  Despite her mother telling me she has strawberry blonde hair I reckon it's more red and she has the temper to go with it.  I told dd and son-in-law to please feel free to ask his mother to babysit next time!!!  I don't think it's fair that I should have all the fun, do you?

Miss Nora had been out of sorts and the change of house, plus everything else must have effected her.  We will of course babysit anytime they ask, as we wouldn't want to miss out.  However dh must make sure he's not working the next day as we need a day or two to recover.

Spoke too soon........

Not feeling well at all.  It is a sinus/head cold thing I have going on. (((SIGH)))  Will be back later on in the week, hopefully!  😰😩😩
