Christmas Tree's..........

Now that it's November everyone is starting to think about Christmas.

Our daughter puts hers up the afternoon of Remembrance Day, as she is off that day and our Grand daughter loves to have the tree up for her birthday for the 16th of November.

I am holding a Christmas get together on November 30th for a group of ladies.  So the house will be all decorated the week before.  Last year we didn't decorate at all as we didn't come back from the UK until December the 1st from a funeral, so the mood was sombre around here last year.

We will get our Christmas lights hung up outside if not this week, then next week; weather depending.  I will also put together two planters for outside at the same time.  We will not turn the lights on until the middle of November though.

On our way home on Sunday evening, I saw a couple of Christmas trees in people's windows, and that was November 2nd.

So the million dollar question is when do you usually put up your Christmas tree?

Hello Gill,

Christmas Eve.....yes, the same for all Hungarians too.

We usually put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving, and we leave it up until New Years. When we had a live tree, we would put it up around my Dad's birthday on Dec 7 and take it down after Christmas.

I have also seen trees up already, bit too early in my opinion.
Scrooge -- I don't put up a tree anymore, but do decorate with other Christmassy things after December 1st.

I try to get everything up Thanksgiving weekend, which is late this year -- 27th. I try to get some of the stuff upstairs before, stashed in the guest room, so I can start to power on it. but I do like to respect the bird! I wish we had Thanksgiving at the same time of year you do! And, with my art sale the 13-15th, I'm pretty busy with that leading up and then putting away after. But I tend to leave it up at least till Twelfth Night and often later. Rick likes his up about the week leading up to Christmas.

I used to be champing at the bit to get the tree up right after Remembrance Day but now I really could care less if we didn't have one at all. We aren't allowed to have real trees in the apartments so it has to be artificial. The Resident Chef likes to have the tree so we still put one up but not until about two weeks before CHristmas. I would happily take it down Dec. 26th but he likes it up until after New Year's. If it were just me, I'd be more than happy to just have our nativity set out and not bother with the rest of it.

Our tree goes up the day after US Thanksgiving. But everyone should do what makes them happy!

I no longer decorate for any holidays. The only person in the house who'd care is me, which means I'd have to get it all out and put it all away. I had a stuffed Grinch on the table a few years ago, that was all the decor I needed. Now I don't even do that.

When the kids were growing up, I decorated everything I could think of. I've given them their ornament collection (we bought them one or two every year as kids) and all the childhood favorites so they can decorate their own spaces.

I don't hate the holidays or anything like that, it's just no longer important to me to decorate. "My" kids at work enjoy making ornaments. We do a lot of them in December.

I usually go for the 1st December but I have to say that this year I haven't thought about Christmas yet, unusual for me. I think If i put them out in November I would be fed up of the clutter way before Christmas
