Went to Costco the other day. For those of you who do not shop at Costco, before you leave the building you have to show your receipt, as they check (sort of) what's in your trolley, matches what's on your receipt.
In front of us there was a guy with a bunch of red roses, sitting in the bed of the trolley. The guy checking the receipt, says: "what did you do!!!" He replied he was an Uber Eat's driver and this was an order.
Now I had a bit to say on this to dh!!!
Me: "If you're ever in the dog house with me, DO NOT send me roses via Uber Eats. Because it shows you just can't be bothered going to the store to buy them yourself. If you did that I would be even more peed off!!"
Dh: "Well I would never send you roses, as you can't stand roses (very true, I'm a carnation girl); and I would never order anything through Uber Eats, as I wouldn't want to pay the delivery charge (very true!!) Also I try not to be in the dog house with you, as I don't want the grief."
LOL😂
Now to be fair in all of this; we're just assuming that someone (male) was in trouble and sending these flowers to make someone happy. However, it would never occur to me to get flowers delivered through Uber Eats, would you?

Firstly, flowers...the florist has their own drivers. Parents today sometimes work full time...the mother may be too tired to do lunches for the children 😴 Just a thought.
My two cents worth regarding Linda's comment. I feel people, adults and children are just too lazy to do anything for themselves if, it can be done by someone else for a price. Why can't children make their own lunches.
One of my granddaughters has five children, at a very young age they were taught to make their bed, help with preparing and cleaning up dinner. When they get home from school they empty their lunch boxes, and then decide what they would like to have the following day. Anything that does not require refrigeration is put in the lunch box, and in the morning Mum puts whatever else is going in there. Granddaughter is a stay at home Mum.
Just saying.
Hah - perhaps the in-the-doghouse guy was afraid she'd throw them at him if he arrived in person. Still, I'd think it would be much better if he took them himself.
As for the lunch thing - perhaps the parents are just too busy with working to have time to prep lunches. And, there's always the fact that kids might be just too darned picky to eat a home made lunch. Or, there's also the peer pressure thing that could be happening too.
I'm to cheap to pay a delivery fee for Uber eats. Kids unless there is a problem can help make a lunch at 10-12 years old.
I use Save on Foods as my florist. They let you pick the delivery slot and there's never a problem with the quality of flowers. Because it's a supermarket, you can order a cake or chocolate, or coffee to go with it.
I do it for birthdays for family members and my bestie who all live in the next province. So we have coffee and cake and a nice bunch of flowers. I've even sent my brother cases of non-alcoholic beer, assorted cold cuts and cheeses that he like and a bag of baps (yes, they make Scottish baps). He loves it.
Floral delivery charges are through the roof. Bouquet costs from florists are insanely high, at least where we live….It’s actually cheaper to get Costco roses (the bouquet cost is a fraction of the florist) and have them delivered via uber (it’s not a huge charge). This person is likely saving money vs “traditional” floral delivery. Kudos to them.
