Well that's not nice!

Someone has hacked into my credit card and used it!

It turns out this has been going on since February 23rd and my credit card company only alerted me yesterday, when something called Instacarts, decided to try and get $1500.00 for the THIRD time.  Luckily they had failed the first two times, but they were "lucky" the third time. UberEats also got through a couple of times. A few other things tried to get through but didn't.

All these charges are from companies I have never ever used or even know about, and I am sure the credit card company knows that.  I may have to sign an affidavit to say none of these are my charges the guy said as the $1500.00 one is quite large.  He told me not to worry about it,; but how can you not worry about it, when this is something that has never happened to me before?  I don't want to be stuck paying these charges.

Of course they cancelled my card, which is a good thing, but a pain in the butt, as I now have to call various companies that I charge things too on a monthly basis to change my credit card number, when my new one arrives, in 7 to 10 business days!!!  Meanwhile I am on a credit card "diet" which sucks but won't kill me, I guess😉

By the way, still have no idea how "they" got my credit card number.....

Have you had this happen to you?

Yes, it has. The bank was on to it almost straight away, contacted me, I had to go down and sign things and the money was refunded within a couple of days. All very satisfactory really. I have no idea either and neither did the bank.

Yep! This has happened to me before as well. I control my accounts almost on a daily basis so, I quickly noticed it and called my bank. They normally send me a text message on my cell for charges above a certain limit but this was a small charge. They quickly took it off asked me to write an e-mail and sent me my new card within 3 business days. Easy peasy!

Yes it has a few years ago. Someone charged twice at iTunes and then a package showed up from Fleshlight via UPS. The idiot bought a sex toy but neglected to change the shipping address to HIS from our billing address. lolz
The worse thing was that this was the day before we left on a trip where we would have needed that credit card, our only one and it was immediately cancelled obviously. Fun times.....

It's happened to hubby with our corporate card twice - mostly because he uses it so much when he travels. No big charges though, weird charges like from a flower shop and hot dog place and the credit card company (RBC Avion) got onto it right away and instantly deleted the charges off our card. They overnighted a new cc to him, you really shouldn't have to wait 10 bloody days for a new one. This is part of the reason he has a company cc, a personal cc and I have completely separate Mastercard from his so when we travel even if something happens we are covered. It does suck though. They might have gotten the number a long time ago and just started using it, that's often what happens is what our cc company told us, a good reason to request a new card every 2 years or so

Oh, yes. It's happened to me. Pain in the butt, I agree.
They stole my number, somehow, and charged $1500 in sport equipment...

Yes a few times and we got a call from MasterCard someone was using it in Michigan to buy gas at a few stations and we live in Pennsylvania. It took a couple of days for the charges to be credited but they overnighted new cards to us because we all had our cards on us and it was fraud.

It hasn't happened to me, and I hope it doesn't.

Indeed I have .. $50,000 in air tickets to India and $20,000 to a cab company in Hungary. The credit card company paid it all back .. said there would be some sad travellers once they try use the air tickets. Pain in the patookus but all is well in the end.

This happened to me once as well. Not for that size of an amount though. Hope your card comes through before you need it to pay those bills.

God bless.

I have had it happen to me too. Back in November they got me for 1700.00 dollars. My bank caught it and stopped all other charges from coming thru. I got all my money back and a new card. It was terrible. Hugs,

I have had this happen. It was such a bother to change numbers that I now have one card for my monthly charges and that is all I use if for so that it will likely never be compromised. I have another for all other charges. In the US Visa tends to call within a day if there is an unlikely charge. I got a call asking if I had really bought a package from a company that ships to inmates in prison.

It really is so rude! I really don’t like people sometimes.
We all work hard to get the things we do. And these lazy pigs just think it’s their right to just steal from
People like us. I’ve not had it happen to me. And I thank my lucky stars

Yes, only once and it wasn't a large amount. Switching all bills etc to the new card # is a hassle but what can you do?

Yes, have had it happen...the credit card company caught it right away. On a larger amount. Another time a charge of $13 which I caught and they just took off.

Then there is the other side of the story. I don't know if people believe me when I tell this, but it honestly happened. This is before we had a computer...prior to 1996...I ordered something from a photography place that advertised in Popular Photography. It was a flash...not real expensive, but in the hundreds of dollars.

So it came. I don't even know what made me look at the invoice or whatever you call it...but it was charged to a card number that was not mine! I called them immediately. They tried to insist that I had used a Sears Card or Jc Penney's card by accident...that I had memorized the numbers and gave the wrong one.

I am like NO...I do not have the numbers memorized and it resembles no credit card number that I have. They did take the correct number, but all the while insisting it was me that had made the mistake but I hadn't. I don't know how/what they did, but it was not me.
