A quick gift.

Made another cosmetic/toiletries bag for someone.  Love this colour combination with the blue cork and the fabric is Flying Colours in the sand colourway by Moda.

Bright pink pop of colour with the waterproof fabric.
Tried putting in the zipper differently.

Next on my sewing list, is a baby quilt, a purse/tote for me with some gorgeous cork I was recently given and some barbie clothes.

Also Dinkydoo Fabrics is having a great sale, so may need to check them out to see if I "need" anything!!  Oh I must show you photos of my new sewing machine.

British or Canadian?

Made a tote bag today using this pattern.  Very simple and easy to do.  So if I am feeling very British you have this side showing all the time.
In a Canadian mood, have this side showing.
Inside is also half and half.
Both of us sick with the stomach flu, so nothing much getting done...........

Fabric, Canada on is Sesquicentennial Northcott fabrics and London one is Destinations Northcott Fabric.

Stomach Bug..........

It started with dh through the night on Thursday with him vomiting like a crazy person.  He stupidly went to work Friday morning, to get there, feel like death warmed over and drove back home.  By then the diarrhea started.  I have never seen him so sick.  He sat on the sofa all day and everything he ate or drank came back out one way or another.  He went to bed around 7:30 pm and didn't get up again until 6:30 am on Saturday morning.

As I write this Saturday afternoon, he is managing to eat a little and keep it down.  He has lost  6 lbs in the last couple of days.

I am sitting here with a very upset stomach and praying and hoping I am not next.  I have disinfected both bathrooms, including all handles and have not shared anything with him.  So fingers crossed I truly only have and upset stomach.

Has this stomach bug done the rounds with you and your family?

Brahms Lullaby

When I was at the hospital the other day, over the speaker we heard this:

Every time a lady gives birth they play this tune.  Sweet or what!

Clean as a whistle..........

Well I am glad that is all over with......the colonoscopy.  As a lot of people said the prep is worse than the actual procedure.  Took my first powder/colon cleaner at 1 pm on Tuesday and thought it wasn't bad.  Took the second one at 6 pm Tuesday and didn't hate it.........didn't love it either.  Took my third at 6 am on Wednesday morning, and could have vomited........but didn't!!

I am glad I read all the instructions thoroughly, as staying close to the bathroom was right on the mark.  I mean at times I have never ran as fast for a long, long time!!  On a positive note I lost 2 lbs in weight.  So now when people say to you, "you are full of **it......well I can positively say, no I'm not!!!!

The whole procedure in the hospital took around 20 minutes, but they were running late.  Never felt a thing, was totally out of it until the nurse woke me up in recovery.

So I don't have to have another one for 10 years, as I am as clean as a whistle!!

Anyone frightened or worried about having one; the procedure is a breeze, the prep I will not lie is miserable, but you will survive; have a good clean out and lose a couple of pounds!!!  Also you can have peace of mind knowing that you have been given a clean bill of health.......

M.I.A. not really

I know I haven't posted in over a week, so this is a catch up post.

I have been sick with a head cold thingy.  Felt rotten for a few days; over it now, still a bit tired, but that could also be due to the clocks changing.  I don't do well with the time changes at all; in fact I am worse than a child with it.  My body just does not like it.

I had my birthday last week.  At my age, over 29, it's just another day, although dh did spoil me.  I started off my birthday by having a mammogram.  Nothing like getting your boobies squished on your birthday!  Haven't heard anything, so everything should be alright.

Got my new sewing machine, now to train the person using it how it all works!  So far so good, I will post more about all that in the next few days.  I have a couple of neat things to show you.

If you need me this afternoon I will be in the bathroom, as I am prepping for my first ever colonoscopy tomorrow.  I am having a rip roaring exciting month aren't I!!!  Should have made an appointment for a pap smear then it would have been even more perfect!

We are over half way through the month, so I am hoping everyone is keeping up with their walking?  I have around 80 miles in, so am keeping up with my challenge this month.  Just going to head out for my morning walk when I finish this post.  I have lost my half pound so finally got my 40 lbs off.  Sort of hoping to lose another pound or two over the next day or two with the clean out I am going to get over the next 24 hours!!!!

Weather up and down, but the spring bulbs are starting to peak through the soil.  As today is the first day of Spring, about time I say!

What's happening in your neck of the woods?  Off for my walk now............enjoy the rest of your day.

"A good workman never blames his tools.'

That's an old saying and so very true.

It's well known in our family that I have a lead foot when driving.  So the other day I was driving dh to do some grocery shopping.  The road we drive on goes from 70 to 60, to 50, down to 40 kmph.  Now be fair to me, I generally drive in each zone, with the first number corresponding to the right number.  The last number.............well that's debatable.

So we are driving along, and at the last minute I see a police car coming towards me.

Me: "blast, never saw him."

Dh, is rolling his eyes and smirking.

Me: "it's this car's fault, it goes too fast."

Dh, again rolling his eyes and shaking his head.

Me: "it is."

Dh: "A good workman never blames his tools."

Me: "I guess; then it must be my feet, they're too heavy."

Dh, just sighs and says: "Just don't use that excuse if you get stopped!!"

Gift for Sue............

I finished up my gifts for Sue.  She is a friend that has done a number of things for us, so I wanted to gift her a little something.  I asked her what colours, and she said I had to choose.  I do know she loves birds, so that is why I chose the bird print.  I love this colour combination.  I just hope she likes it.

Here is the fabric for my next project:

Another cosmetic bag.  Lilac inside with floral and natural cork on the outside.  She wanted pastel colours.

SPAM..........

not the meat, but the annoying messages from people with nothing else better to do than promote all sorts of crazy things........

I moderate all my messages, as I know for a fact as soon as I switch off the moderate button, I will be inundated with crazy messages.

At the moment they are coming in fast and furious.  No idea if Blogger is trying to stop them, but I hate them.

If you have a blog do you moderate your comments all the time due to SPAM?

By the way the pattern for the little birdies was in this magazine:

Someone was asking..........

Fast and easy Easter Gift

Well it's fast and easy now that I have altered the pattern 😏

I picked up this magazine on the weekend.

The reason I picked it up was for the little finger puppets in the bottom left of the photo:
They looked cute and I thought the two birdies would be great as a little gift to put into the kids' Easter bags.  So I knit the first one and this is how it turned out:

Even on my fingers it was big.  Now granted I was using a slightly different gauge yarn, but when I did knit one in the right gauge yarn it still was big.  The one on the right is the right gauge yarn.  So I knew I was going to have to alter the pattern so it wasn't too bit for little fingers.  You can see my first small finger puppet in the photo below.

I ended up casting on 14 stitches instead of the 24 and knitting 14 rows instead of 24 rows.  I used Patons Canadiana yarn.
The beak was 4 rows by 4 rows.

Although a bit fiddly they have turned out super cute.
The extra large pair I am keeping so when I Facetime the grand kids we can do the nursery rhyme together.  I still have a couple more pairs to knit, but they knit up in no time flat.

Now the nursery rhyme these are for is:

Two Little Dicky Birds:

Two little dicky birds, sitting on a wall.
One called Peter, one called Paul.
Fly away Peter, fly away Paul.
Come back Peter, come back Paul.

Look who arrived back home........

Managed to put her to work right away.  They were able to repair her without replacing any parts and gave her a service.

I had to make a cosmetic bag for dd, she wanted to interior to be waterproof.  I have some bright pink Babyville fabric which is waterproof, so lined it with that.

The two cloth "handles" are for another couple of cosmetic bags I made before my machine broke.
I have a couple more projects cut out ready to sew; it's for soup bowl cozies and a cosmetic bag.  Loving the orange lining fabric to go with the birds:

Well that's not nice!

Someone has hacked into my credit card and used it!

It turns out this has been going on since February 23rd and my credit card company only alerted me yesterday, when something called Instacarts, decided to try and get $1500.00 for the THIRD time.  Luckily they had failed the first two times, but they were "lucky" the third time. UberEats also got through a couple of times. A few other things tried to get through but didn't.

All these charges are from companies I have never ever used or even know about, and I am sure the credit card company knows that.  I may have to sign an affidavit to say none of these are my charges the guy said as the $1500.00 one is quite large.  He told me not to worry about it,; but how can you not worry about it, when this is something that has never happened to me before?  I don't want to be stuck paying these charges.

Of course they cancelled my card, which is a good thing, but a pain in the butt, as I now have to call various companies that I charge things too on a monthly basis to change my credit card number, when my new one arrives, in 7 to 10 business days!!!  Meanwhile I am on a credit card "diet" which sucks but won't kill me, I guess😉

By the way, still have no idea how "they" got my credit card number.....

Have you had this happen to you?

Walking month end check in..........

How did you do during the month of February?

I managed to walk 102.78 miles this past month.  I walked like a crazy person over the past few days to get me past my 100 mile goal.  I have to be more consistent with this walking, rather than cramming it in during the last few days of the month.

I was lucky though, as we have had some lovely weather which has made walking a joy.  My year to date total is 216.53 miles.

Now for my weight loss for the month.  The other day I mentioned it was non existent for February.  Well in my peri-menopause brain fog that I seem to be permanently in I thought I had lost more than I had last month.  When I checked back to see how much I had lost overall, it turns out I have lost another 4 lbs this month, to bring my total weight loss to 39 1/2 lbs.  Drat, half a pound off the 40 lb mark.

I have been at this weight loss, exercise thing for eight months now.  So as you can see I am in the slow and steady lane, rather than the quick and fast lane.  Which I personally think is a better way, as my body is adapting better to all the changes I have been making.  Which is giving me positive results.

One of the down sides though of losing weight is my clothes are all getting too big, but I am between sizes so want to wait before I buy anything else new.

So my goals for March are to walk the 100 miles (hoping for more) and lose 5 1/2 lbs.

I am excited to hear how everyone else did?
