Icky, Icky, Icky
Daughter sent me these photos the other day, knowing full well I would whine on about them. I do not like this sort of thing........
I hate it when kids get all messy like this when eating. I always have the dishcloth on hand when they eat over at our place. Miss P is a very independent eater, so likes to be hands on. Dd finds it easier just to let her get on with it so always puts food on her tray and if need be feeds her by spoon in between hands. Miss N was exactly the same and I have a similar photo of her doing the same thing.

I agree with you. I always want to clean them up and get a spoon out! :-). Oh well, they soon outgrow this stage and then you have photos like these to show them when they're older! Ha!

Icky in a very cute way:) What a mess such a little girl is capable of making. Tough job!
A bit icky but a lot of fun to be that age and squish it all in your fingers and then shove it in your mouth.
lol that's how my daughter feeds her daughter. And it ends up everywhere
I can't handle it. But she's such a chilled mum she says it's just easier to clean it all up at the end.
But I'm like you. Cloth in hand and making sure they don't get too messy. Oh well what ever works I say
I used to d the same as your daughter, it was easier to let them feed themselves however they go it done while I did other things around the kitchen. Kept them busy for a few needed minutes
Me too, it seems to be the thing to do now though.
I've seen this among nephews and nieces. It's a nice handy thing to have, photos like these, on hand someday when they get married.
yeah, me too. I was worse though because my kids had bibs on almost ALL the time whether they were eating or not because mine were quite drool-y and I never let them eat off the high chair tray, they had to have plates and bowls. I got laughed at a lot by my sisters-in-law who just spooned the mac and cheese on the try but I had to have it on a plate for mine.
I think it is adorable for young eaters, but I do think by age 2 you really do need to start the spoon and fork training. When my granddaughter is here she uses a spoon quite handily. I have one particular one we call her "fancy" spoon and she really does like using it. They do not continue it at home, but I do keep my mouth shut about it.
I do as well and like you I always had a wash rag near and a bib on the children.

I'm grateful not to be raising a baby. I try to butt out of such things!!! It's not often they ask for advice and I don't usually volunteer it!

She's a doll, but I definitely don't miss those days... Lol!! Utensils are great in my books!
I am a bit like you, but I can stand a little bit of this, but not to just let my kid go like that, I have to clean up...if for no other reason I don't want it in her eyes. LOL And Sarah must be the same cause I never remember wanting to tell her to clean Lorelei up. Also, we don't interfere with each other's discipline of her...except Papaw and Dad get aggravated at me and Sarah cause we used to get so tickled at some of her things...or did. She is now past that.
Agreed that this is a messy and icky way that young children eat. Somehow, I think my own mother would have been too proper to let me do this!
It is cute but yes messy! It seems to be what they do nowadays contrasting with when we gave them a spoon. My son never got into a mess but my daughter sometimes was covered in her food even using a spoon.
Wonder what she'll think about that photo when she's older!

My sons wear not messy but my daughter ate like your Granddaughter. The fingers came first before the fork or spoon .
My daughter is in her 50's and she loves to bake. So the fingers were a start for her.
