We took a mini road trip on Sunday to the Lindt Chocolate Factory Outlet Store in Mississauga. It's probably an hour and twenty minute drive from where we live, so not exactly just around the corner. Wagjag had a coupon for got $30 worth of product for $15. So I thought we would go and get the kiddies their Easter chocolates.
Now for anyone who is a new follower, I am not a greedy person unless it's to do with chocolate and that is when I am known NOT TO share!! I am a picky chocolate eater though and will only eat specific brands like Cadbury's or Lindt and I will not touch dark chocolate. Just looking at dark chocolate gives me a migraine. Though I do enjoy After Eights (in very small quantities), as there is nothing better than mint and chocolate, other than orange and chocolate.
Did I mention I LOVE chocolate. Just in case you didn't hear that, I LOVE chocolate!!
It turns out our kids and dh are also picky chocolate eaters and prefer certain brands as well. When the kids were little and were given cheap chocolate Easter Eggs more often than not we ended up throwing them out, as no one would eat them. We are used to British chocolate and it is a lot creamier than the American and Canadian brands. So there is no point what so ever skimping on pennies when it comes to chocolate for them.
One thing Lindt is famous for is their Easter Bunnies:
Look at them all stacked up here:
I picked up this little lot:
That cost me a total of $25.71 with taxes, that included the $15 Wagjag coupon, so an extra $10.71. Now lets hope there are some left for the kids for Easter; I'm not promising (wink, wink!) I did get a sample of the Lindt Milk Chocolate Irish Cream Truffle, not my cup of tea, very artificial flavouring.
After we left there we decided to have lunch in Applebee's in Brampton. It's been years since we have eaten in that restaurant chain.
They had a special where you have an appetizer and two mains for $25.
We decided to have the spinach dip, was a bit runny and not enough cheese, otherwise it was fine.
We both then had Chicken Oriental Salad as our main. I had started mine before I realized I hadn't taken a photo.
Dh had a Pepsi, and I had water to drink, so with tip and taxes it came to around $35 and made a pleasant change. That salad took us ages to eat, plenty of roughage there to keep us regular that's for sure...LOL
So all in all a good day and Easter is more or less taken care of now.

Nice deal on the chocolates! Although we're still far from Easter now :-)
Oh i agree, no point buying cheap chocolate. What's the point. Its as treat, so splurge on the best you can buy. Both brands are also popular here.
Thats my kind of shopping trip, I am an addict as well x
We love the Lindt bunnies, reindeer, teddies - the lot! Both husband and I are chocaholics! Yum Yum
I love chocolate. And your choclates look very yummy. But then again so did the salads. I think I better stick with the health stuff.
Chocolate is a no compromise, no share thing in my book. Okay, well, I will share but grudgingly.
You had a great day out! Imagine ~ all that Lindt chocolate! Swoon ~~~
I even worked in an up market chocolate shop.
Some of my favourites are Montezuma's Chilli and Lime; Green and Black's Milk; CDM; a box of Dairy Milk; Lindor Milk {and now Strawberry limited edition} and Terry's Chocolate Orange {original}
What do you think about the changes made to Cadbury's Cream Egg this year?
~~~Deb in Wales
looks delicious! I am one of the few people who doesn't like chocolate.
Oh my! Lindt is my favourite chocolate too along with Thorntons...yum... I don't share either :-)
You deserve a nice day out with Chocolate after having all that snow and freezing temperatures x
Sounds like a fun day. I love the Lindt chocolate as they are so creamy. My daughter loves those Lindor truffles too, they are her favorite.
I am still drooling over the chocolate:) Hug B
I agree the UK chocolate is much creamier. We have a Lindt outlet in my town too - I go there once a year with my mom!
To Deb ShireGardener: They've changed creme eggs? What did they do to them??
they have reduced the number of eggs per package, it doesn't affect us over here in Canada
What a fun day! I remember going to Bourneville on a school outing when I was a kid. They gave us so many samples back then we were all feeling a little worse for wear. Now I get migraines if I eat any kind of chocolate.
My daughters are big fans of Lindt Chocolate. It is delicious and wonderfully creamy! I had no idea there was a factory outlet store in Mississauga. I should check it out next time I'm near there.
Mmmmmmmmm!
I am addicted to Lindt chocolate too!!!
That's a hoot! That's what I do. Forget the photo, and devour my meal.
Chocolate heavenly post!
Lindt and Applebees, for sure you found gold. We don't have an Applebees here and I really miss it.
Hope you don't get into all the chocolate BEFORE Easter.
I am not a huge chocolate fan...but if I do eat it...I only eat dark chocolate. Lol
Lindt is yummy...but they sell it everywhere here...grocery store, walgreens, CVS. So for me, it isn't as special.
Lindt chocolate is so gorgeous... Yum! I love chocolate with something salty like crisps or peanuts xx
Oh my - chocolate!
xx
The Lindt bunnies are so pretty, aren't they? My mouth is watering for chocolate now!
Aren't the portions gigantic at restaurants? We hardly dine out either. We went to breakfast on Saturday and I ordered lunch and little James ate the French fries. He's such a little squirt, but he loves fries!
OMG! I love Lindt chocolates. Lucky you :)
Lindt chocolate is the best! :)
There's a Lindt shop up this way- it is very good chocolate.
I don't go for dark chocolate either, and among regular bars, there are favourites and then there are others- Big Turk- that I will never touch again.
I know spring has sprung when my car door pocket has packets of old fashioned liquorice or dolly mixtures from the garden centre. I find them good alternatives to chocolate and they don't melt:)
To anexactinglife ~ they
1. reduced the number of eggs in the pack from 6 to 5
2. made the single unit Creme Eggs slightly smaller
3. changed the chocolate shell from Dairy Milk to regular Cadbury chocolate
4. made the fondant less sweet {not too bad a thing}
If I am honest, although shocked, I find the less sweet fondant more appealing.
I LOVE dark chocolate the best, however mint chocolate is 2nd in running. All chocolate is good & I am a confessed chocolate addict. I drooled just looking at all that Lindt chocolate.
I just had dinner but after reading your post I'm having some cravings!!
Gill, I really love chocolate and Lindt has some of the best out there. Love your photos!!!
Thanks Gill for the info on that chocolate shop. We have friends living in Mississauga and had planned a first in early Feb until all the snows came our way! I will keep this place in mind for our future trip as chocolates are my favorite too!
Guess I will be going to Mississauga this weekend then!!! Love lindt chocs and easter is a perfect time for this trip!
