A bit of this and a bit of that.

One of dh's favourite desserts is fresh fruit salad.  I posted the recipe here back in 2010.  I had an apple and a pear that needed using up, so thought I would make one.
I also had a can of mandarin oranges, a can of pineapple tidbits, a couple of bananas and I found a bag of frozen peach slices in the freezer.  I did not make the syrup from the original recipe, I just used the juice from the two cans, and I chopped everything up and popped it in the fridge so it was nice and cold for supper.  You can use all sorts of fruits, that was what I had on hand.
I picked up a cross stitch magazine in England when we were over.  I love doing cross stitch and have been doing it since the early 80's.  However I have discovered a couple of things.  They are making the holes a lot smaller on the Aida cloth (!!) and doing cross stitch aggravates the arthritis in my thumb joints.  This is an easy project I am doing.  Says it only take 9 hours to finish, so hopefully next week I will be able to show you photos.
I bought a pot of bulbs last Saturday; they were all on bud.  Less than a week later, they are all in flower, despite me sitting them on the table by the front door, where I figured it would be a little cooler.
The good thing about this, is that although they won't last too long, they give the house a feel of Spring and I will be able to plants the bulbs in the Fall.
We are going back to the garden centre today as they have a home show on, so I may pick up another pot of bulbs.

As I said in the title, a bit of this and a bit of that!  What are your plans for Saturday.

Your fruit salad looks good.

I can't wait to see your finished cross stitch project.

Your bulbs are beautiful. We have some of the same bulbs here and they are sprouting out of the ground now.

We are going to a garage sale this morning and then to the library. :)

What beautiful flowers you have there! Sunday is about resting as I'm having a flu of some sort, and catching up on blogs :)

My daffs are not out yet - but I notice the chap next door has some in his garden. Reading your comment on my blog, I suspect we are enjoying considerably warmer weather than you right now.
Cross stitch - since they started making the holes smaller, I have been wearing one of those neck magnifiers- it seems to make the holes bigger again!!
weekend blessings x

I love fruit salad. In the winter, I warm it up and make more of a compote adding some dried fruits and cinnamon too. Such a good idea to use the juice from the tins too, saves a lot of faffing around {as I recall from school days} to make a syrup.
Having barely slept a wink, I am having a very lazy day today.

I love fruit salad too although I've never made my own. Your flowers are so pretty, the same color as our quilting rainblow challenge.

That fruit salad looks delicious. I never thought to do that with fruit that needs to be used up. And there's always some of that around.

Daffodils! How pretty. My favourite spring flower.

Love the daffodils Gill, they would make a very bright spot in the hall. The fruit salad looks delicious. I love that myself. I remember seeing your cross stitch pieces before. They are always very nice.

There will be no Spring flowers around here for some time to come.

At Easter time they sell the potted flowers and I'll get a couple of lilacs then....love their smell in the house!

This weekend we picked up the #3 child from college for his break....next weekend we'll be hauling him back.
I think the sack of laundry he brought home weighs more than he does. lol

Your waiting for spring. And we are now experiencing our autumn. I too had doors and windows open to finally get some cool fresh air. Before it gets too cold and we have to light the fire. Your daffodils are very pretty

I do like a good fruit salad. Particularly when blueberries are involved.

Inspiring Gill!
We're so bad at getting fruit into us!
I would love to do some bulbs!!! Just have to get in gear.
We put our cat down, and it is so sad.

I have this thing about needing all fruit to be room temperature! I did a lot of cross stitch in the past and I keep saying I will get back to it.
