Below are my chicken scratchings that is the pattern I am following. I designed it myself, as it was one of the things we had to do. I can understand it, but I am guessing no one else will be able to do.

I also finished the book I was reading; "The Secret Life of Bees," by Sue Monk Kidd. Here is a link to the review I wrote. I ask a couple of questions about the movie. So if you have read the book and seen the movie I would look forward to what you have to say too my questions.
So all in all a productive week, crafting and reading wise. Have you had a productive week?

One of my fave books (although, as you said, it started out a bit slow and T-Ray is a doozer) but I've yet to see the movie, and probably won't. Very seldom do I like the movie adaptations of beloved books.
Wow, look at you go with the knitting! Not something I could do, but I have the greatest admiration for those who can.

I've seen the movie, which I loved. It's definitely a keeper, not read the book though. Your knitting is coming along nicely. Looks so good.
I admire you taking up a new craft like knitting. I was never very good at it and could never keep the tension even. I have not read the book or seen the movie. Maybe I will put the book on my Kindle.

I've seen the DVD version of The Secret Life of Bees at the library but never checked it out (doubtful there's enough "action" to keep Husband's interest, LOL). I've not read the book but your review and all the comments have caused me to put it on my to-read list. Recommendation appreciated!

I read the book but have not seen the movie. I've heard it's really good, so I should check it out.
I have a knitting loom I am going to try -- I have tried knitting with needles and I apparently lack the knitting gene. I do love cross stitch and am working on a book mark right now. It is going ever so slowly as I am using silk thread which, while gorgeous, is absolutely a tool of the devil himself. Will stick with DMC from now on. I have seen the "Bee' movie but not read the book -- I would like to read the book -- much prefer to read books before I see the movies -- they leave so much out!

My eyes are going, too. I bought new reading glasses, I hope that helps me. I fudged my cross stitch and had to put it down until I could remove the stitches and fix it. I got so frustrated!

I can't manage knitting anymore,my hands don't like it.
I read the book in 2002..can't remember what I thought of it though.

The knitting is looking great. The munchkin will love it. I have never cross stitched. But I may start with something small. I have purchased a magnifying glass and light stand so I'll be able to see. I do, do stitcherys. I will have to get them out too. lol need another pair of hands and more hours in the day I think

If you would like a smaller project to do before tackling the big blanket. Give Elizabeth Zimmerman's February Baby Sweater a try. (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-sweater-on-two-needles-february) It's a little bit of lace, but not scary lace. It's says it's for 'two needles' but I use my circulars for it all the time. It's my go-to pattern for babies. It's made with worsted size (ignore the Ravelry page that says fingering) so it knits up in no time
