I went to the hairdressers today and we got talking; this was the first time I had been to this salon. I told her we were moving to an active adult community up the road, and yes she told me they had a lot of clients from there. I was telling her about how I wanted to let what little colour (hair dye) left in my hair grow out and try to go "au natural." We talked about how much natural colour I had left and how much grey there was etc.
Came to pay and she charged me seniors rate! I politely told her I wasn't a senior, and she thanked me for being so honest........
The family found this all very amusing............me well....do I dye or not {{{SIGH}}}

I stopped colouring my hair 5 years ago and my hair is healthier for it to . I have some grey mixed in with my natural colour and I like and have earned it like my wrinkles I have earned it all lol . Hey I would of taken the seniors price anyways lol seniors in some places start at 50 . Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !
I went au natural almost 18 years ago and I've never regretted it. So much easier to care for but then I keep it very short. It's such a personal decision though so I wouldn't try to influence you one way or another.
Just go natural.
Easy for me to say... I shave my head, and like it that way. When someday I go gray, I might well never know, since it all gets shaved every other day.
I believe I shall dye until I die. Or at least that is my feeling now. I don't think I would look good grey but I know a lot of ladies who do look great with grey hair (I guess, like you found, that the scary part would be transitioning from the dyed color to grey gracefully!).

I tried it a few years ago when I broke my hand and had trouble styling etc, but couldn't stand the stranger in the mirror. I'm hoping it will look better to me now. :)
Discounts are usually nice, but not so much in this case. Good luck with the growing out period!
At this point I'm going to go naturally grey. I am already my natural colour having let all that grow out years ago so it's slowly going grey. I'll let you know if that changes in a few years
I was visiting Cindy from Just North of Wiarton and saw a snippet of your post. I had to laugh because I am also in the "dye" dilemma. Should I or Shouldn't dye my greyish hair. I recently got my hair cut, cutting off a lot of the dyed part, which only made my hair look even more grey!! I don't mind having grey hair, as long as I don't look in the mirror!! I am 48 and have a bit of grey. I have never dyed my hair, I earned this grey and I have nothing to hide so I am in favour of going "au natural"
I cannot tell you what to do, but I dye. I am not ready to look like a Senior even if I am. I go to the salon as the hair coloring is better for your hair and the color doesn't fade so quickly.

I was having my hair highlighted...my hair is such a color...in summer it had a lot of blonde. In winter it gets dark...except for the white/gray.
I really liked having it highlighted, but finally came to the conclusion it was not worth the money and have since just let it be what it wants to be and am pretty much okay with it.
I, too, have come to the conclusion I have earned all those gray hairs and wrinkles.
Many years ago, a friend persuaded me to colour my hair, at that time I was still having it permed. Instead of a nice warm brown, it became ORANGE, a reaction from the perming solutions. Never coloured again and now no perms either.
So I am now more salt than pepper and short and straight, which has taken almost four years to get used to.
Decisions...decisions???

I stopped dying my very long hair ages ago. I'm so glad I stepped off that carousel. My copper colored hair is now mostly silver. "I've just traded one precious element for another."
I wouldn't try to influence you but I have never dyed my hair and I got my first grey hair at 19. I still have it as my then-boyfriend, now-husband thought it was hysterical, pulled it out of my head and saved it. I was offered a senior citizen discount at the grocery store when I was about 43, I assume because of the grey hair. I got aggravated over it but not aggravated enough to start dyeing it. I have always thought it was better to age gracefully and deal with what is natural. I personally didn't want the cost or the upkeep and I have never regretted it. The only thing that is bothersome is when people ask me why I don't dye my hair! Do what you like but it really is ok to go au naturel!
