This past week I have heard and read of numerous articles about the increase of stealing/theft.
I was talking to a friend about this and she was telling me a story about a brand new car being stolen from a car dealership. A guy walked in with a hoodie on (hood up) and a mask on; both things very common nowadays. Sat down and talked to a new sales guy about how he was on the fence about which car he wanted to buy. One being sold by this dealership, the other another make from another company.
The first thing you are asked for is your drivers license. He said he had forgotten his license and didn't want to test drive the car. He was very knowledgeable and he just wanted to see inside of the car as he wanted to know about the "rev's". To do that though you have to turn the car on. The sales guy got in the passenger seat while the guy was in the drivers seat. The guy then asked some questions about how certain things worked and the sales guy got out of the car and walked round to the drivers side to show him what was what.
You can guess what happened.........yep drove off into the sunset never to been seen again!!
A local town had five Dodge Ram pick-ups stolen in one night, 2021/222 models. Made hubby buy one of those clubs to put on his steering wheel, my car is always parked in the garage. The police reckons that's as good as anything, as the thieves have to work harder to steal them, so they walk away and find another one to steal. It's becoming such a common occurrence all these car thefts, police just can't keep up with it.
A local store has had to install more security measures to try and prevent people stealing food. Read an article where one man said he goes through the self check out all the time. Pays for the cheaper foods but "forgets to scan" all the foods he cannot afford. He can't afford rent, utilities and food. So he doesn't feel bad doing this.
Son worked part time in a grocery store back in the day. Every Christmas he said folk would switch tags on the turkeys, getting a huge turkey for the price of a small one. It boggled my mind that someone would think to do that?
As I said to my friend, we find this all fascinating, as to how these people think of more and more ways to steal things; as we were all brought up not to steal, so wouldn't have a clue how to do these things?
Is it as bad where you live?
