Pocket Pack Tissue Cover Tutorial....

Another quick and easy gift to make.

Pocket Pack Tissue Cover:

Materials needed:

4 pieces of material 5 3/4 inches x 4 inches
Thread
Scissors
Tape Measure

Decide which material's you want to use where. Take two pieces of the material and fold in half.
The other two pieces lay them down with good sides facing outwards.
Place the two folded pieces on top of the other pieces of material.  Please note the material with the circles on, will be the outward facing back of the tissue cover.

Make sure the two folded edges are butted together tightly.  You can pin them together so they do not move, or if you are lazy like me 😋 I just ironed all the pieces well and that worked as well.
Stitch all around the edges of the material using 1/4 inch seam.  I then trimmed all around the edges using my pinking shears (zig-zag) to stop the edges fraying, and it looks neater.  Or you could just sew a zig-zag stitch all around with your sewing machine.
 Turn it right side out.
Notice now the darker material is on the inside of the cover.
Add a package of tissues and you're all done.
These are so handy to have in your handbag, or backpack.  I will make a couple of these for the girls to put in their backpacks for school.

Quick question now for you.  If you were to pay for one of these (with a package of tissues inside) how much would you be willing to pay?

I am a very lucky girl, because

I was given this as a gift:
It's a shoe bag, red velvet, all lined inside.  It is gorgeous.  A friend of mine made it after I commented on the one she had when we last saw one another.  She has a fancy dancy sewing machine that does embroidery.  It's handy if you are going to a function and wearing high heals and want to change into another pair of shoes.

This is one that dd chose:
and I bought this one off her for my good friend:
The detail on all these bags is stunning.  She made another dozen or so and she is donating them to auction off for a charity.

As you can see we are very fortunate to receive these.

New Years Day - time to get back to normal.........

By that I mean take down all the Christmas decorations and move everything back to it's original place.  I really need to have a clean out of Christmas decorations as I don't use a number of them, but am not sure what to do with them?  Who buys Christmas decorations?

I also cleaned out our medicine cabinet and now have a bag full of medications that are out dated.  I will drop them off at our pharmacy next time I am passing and they will dispose of them safely.

I also put up our new calendar in the kitchen and transferred all the important dates from one calendar to the other.

A couple of weeks ago a friend was cleaning out her china cabinet and gave me a couple of her vases.  Neither are that old but are lovely and will remind me of her forever.

Had hoped to have a no spend day on Sunday as I never left the house all day, but ended up spending $5 on shipping and handling on a magazine subscription I paid for earlier on in December.

I ended up getting a two year subscription for Canadian Living for $24 plus $5 shipping.

Today is "National Make a Dog's Day!
