Yep it's nippy cold up here at the moment. We looking at wind chills in the minus 30's( -20's oF) this morning, so I guess it's a hibernating day again. Not that I mind as I don't really have much energy to do anything else. I had hoped to go to the dreaded Wal-Mart to buy some groceries as they have some items on sale that we need, but I think I will wait another day or two until it warms up and I feel a little better.
I do think I am slowly getting better as I don't feel as though I am going to die anymore....LOL Thank goodness I only get one of these colds every couple of years or so, as I am painful when I am ill!!
We are going to friends for dinner next Saturday night and she emailed us to ask us if we would like rabbit as the main course...........both me and dh looked at one another and said NO at the same time. To me rabbits are fluffy creatures hopping around the fields and they carry diseases. Now I know the rabbits you get over here are bred specifically for meat so no diseases, but I can't get the picture out of my head when walking my Nana's dog many years ago in Britain and we stumbled upon a rabbit with myxomatosis that was just plain nasty, so no rabbit eating for me.......
Do you like rabbit?

Yes, I like rabbit to eat but I would only buy it from a reputable butcher and I've never seen it here in Tennessee. I wouldn't go out of my way to find it however. Years ago, I suppose we had to eat rabbit because other meat was too expensive. Now, we can usually afford something else. Since you've been ill, I think you made a wise choice to turn down the rabbit. You don't want to suffer from anything else, do you!
Get well soon. These illnesses take their course.
Nope. I've had rabbit and if starving I could eat it. I don't like meat with a wild taste. Plus, like you said eat a bunny rabbit? There so cute.
I haven't touched rabbit since that awful myxomatosis. I know some people buy it but they're generally younger and don't remember like I do. Hope you continue to feel better.
My Mum once tried to make us eat rabbit by telling us it was chicken....even at a very young age I was good at anatomy and got told off because I told my brother it wasn't chicken but rabbit!

Yes we like rabbit although we haven't eaten it in years. btw - sending much warmer weather your way. Right now it's only -13C and suppose to get to 0 this week. I love winter, it's my favorite season yet for some reason I'm so wanting spring early this year. Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. Hugs
I have eaten rabbit...it has been years and years. I have eaten squirrel also...and really liked it.
Haven't had it in years and years, and won't now since having had Mama Squirrel. Sort of the same way about rabbits...my daughter had one pet rabbit that was really a pet. They would have her loose in the yard and if something scared her, she ran and jumped in my daughter's lap.
We love rabbitt! Baked or caseroled! Down here we call it 'Underground Mutton'. Myxo isn't used anymore, replaced by the calicivirus but rabbits are now developing an immunuty to that as well. We can buy wild rabbits (certified virus-free)or farm-bred rabbits at the 'Game Meat' shop at the markets - along with Crocidile and Kangaroo steaks, goat, venison, emu and a whole host of other wild meats.
Glad to hear you're back in the land of the living Gill.
Nope can't abide the thought of eating bunnies. Mixi is still with us sadly. My daughter's little bunnies caught it somehow and it's awful. She has no idea how they caught it so I'm not convinced rabbits bred to eat will be risk free.
If you ever kept them as pets you just can't. It would be like eating the cat!
So cold for you there! Seems like only last week I was reading about you suffering terribly in the heat! LOL. We have a cool 26 degrees here today but is due to heat back up to 40 degrees by the end of the week. Pool time again then!
Glad you are feeling bettr. I don't mind rabbit, I haven't had any for a numbr of years. Visited my Mum today and she was talking about the price of rabbit in her grocery store $20.00!!! I don't like it that much.
Keep warm
Patricia
It's freezing cold here in Montreal too!!! -23 with a wind chill of -36 right now and it's supposed to go down to -36 tonight! Brr...
As for rabbit, I find it quite tasty, so I didn't go visit that site you put the link to just in case it turned me off of ever eating rabbit again lol
Would never eat rabbit as I had a couple as pets as a child - DH has caught some and eaten them but I won't touch them.
Glad you are back amoungst the living. Stay warm :)
Poor Peanut didn't even want to go out today to do her business - fastest she ever went!
Personally, couldn't eat rabbit but that's just me. From Barrie but my husband is British--he's been here 10 years. Link through my name and learn what's going on in Barrie!
Glad you're feeling better, Gil, but what's up with the weather?
We had -20F this morning WITHOUT wind chill!
Spring! I want Spring!
