Here we go again........and a rant!!

They're at it again, those honking geese!!! This time they were on my neighbours roof top, "the romantic couple," were honking up a storm. It's quite comical to see as when I walk to the mail box it's as though they are sentries on the roof top guarding my journey to and from the mail box, as there were more geese honking on the rooftops further down the road.

Now a bit of a rant. We had to go to the doctors on Wednesday, me to get some repeat prescriptions, dh to get some test results. Our appointment was 3pm, we got into the doctors office at 3:45pm, and finally saw the doctor at 3:55pm, and we were out of the office by 4:10pm.

Our doctor is a nice guy, bit of a pill pusher, but a nice guy. However he is NEVER EVER on time. He comes back from lunch at 1pm, and by 3pm he is running nearly an hour behind? It drives me crazy, my time is as valuable as any one elses. I have talked to him about this, and I am sure other people have complained, but makes no difference.

I would swap doctors but family doctors are as rare as hen's teeth in Ontario. I sort of hope we can find another family doctor close to where we are going to live, but I am not holding my breath. As family doctors are in even shorter supply in the countryside.

I am sure I am not the only one with this problem, is your doctor as bad? By the way we have had the same doctor for over 10 years. Where ds lives (four hours north of us)none of the family doctors are taking on patients so ds is still registered with our doctor, which is a pain for him, but what can you do?

Don't forget to put your money in your tin for the Daily Savings Challenge, you should have $19.50 in your pot as of today.

It's no different in the states. I book either first morning appointment or first after lunch appointments. I never book a mid-shift appt. I guess in addition to over booking, there are some things like bad news or very ill patients that may be what set the doctors back, but if I were the really sick one, I would hope my doctor would take his time. Try my first appt of the day trick. I swear it works.

Doctors same here in UK. Some time ago I used to work as a receptionist at local surgery along with 5 others. We used to get REALLY annoyed when the doctors came out of surgery to have a "coffee break" and ask one of us to run along to the bakers and get them buns to eat - meanwhile the queue of patients piled up and the receptionists had to deal with the impatient patients. Not so long ago I waited TWO hours!!!

Thought it just normal for all doctors to be running late, I remember once going up, he was 20 minutes late, then when I wanted to talk about two things (grins teeth) he said, 'sorry I'm to busy', now if he was busy then ok, when I went into the docs office there wasn't a soul in the waiting room, when I left there was still no one in the waiting room.

Personally I think it is a power thing, nothing we can do as we need them so.

Here in France, I save up all my ailments for when I REALLY nead to see the Dr.

Every appointment takes forever as he takes my blood pressure, pulse, sounds my chest and checks my reflexes!

I'm fit and healthy too so goodness knows how long it all takes with someone infirm.

I sometimes feel I ought to form a self help group in the waiting room as I begin to lose the will to live.

My doctor here in Australia practises just round the corner. He often runs late but I don't mind. He goes overtime with me because he chats and draws diagrams and I'm happy he does the same for others. I ring up near my appointment time and ask how far behind he is before I set out.He works until about nine at night to catch up sometimes.

We are glad that we have free medical services from the Govt hospitals but the time they consume...is eternal!

Be greatful!!!
A Dr who cares and takes time is much better than a pen pusher who sticks to the three minute rules and so misses things!

Here there is no NHS..eveything has to be paid for and the medial world is a business wolrd first and foremost...no on eis responsible or has to really account for their mistakes. I miss the NHS in the UK...it had its problems but OMG you dont know what you got till you lose it!

Same here, in SC (USA). Although, I think they are beginning to work on that. The hospital E.R. is advertising 15 min. wait. Amazing.
Love the geese on the rooftops. I guess if you lived with it daily it could be a problem. I'm just happy to hear them pass by.

I don't think it's different anywhere in Canada. Our doctor is usually on time and when he isn't it's because he is running late from his appointments, not because he is late from lunch. He is a wonderful rural doctor and we are thankful we have him.

Are you transplanting the honkers too!
I always for the first appoinment of the day. How late can they be for the first appointment! I have always fond this works well.

same here, I can be in the doctors office at least two hours from start to finish and it is hard to get a doctor here too, we also have to pay for parking while we are waiting. The most annoying thing is that they won't take messages so you have to keep calling and waiting, you either get a busy signal or a prerecorded message. then they set the appointment up for next week. yep things are bad all over.

Well my little rant is that when I book an appt for say 9am & then an oldie/pensioner comes in with a lets say 9.20am appt they let the elderly go first as it is their rule not to keep the elderly to long waiting. It's darn unfair if you ask me as I'm in a hurry to get to work while they have the day as their own!!
Mind you I am not an unfair person & if it is a particulary frail or unwell person I don't mind. If there is a lot of elderly I don't get to work before lunch(I can't afford that) One day when I came out they were all having tea & cake when I walked out, me I had to go straight to work. Sorry Gill shouldn't get me started on this one.

We too have honking roof geese. It's the time to divide up the breeding territory....My neurologist and immunologist are wonderful, but it took a long time to find them after my dxd of multiple sclerosis. But my family doctor is not as good. It's hard to find docs who run on time and are good...Michelle
