One project completed, one a bit further on......

I finished my cross stitch the other day.

I got it pressed and put inside the trivet. I love the colours, it came out brighter than what it was on the picture. I also enjoyed doing it.

I have finally got the top pieced together on the quilt and the borders put on. The outside border will also be the backing and the binding.

I wish I had made it a little longer, it is 60 inches wide by 72 inches long. I am thinking of making matching pillow cases and putting it on ds bed. Don't worry ds doesn't live at home (I know its a bit girly the quilt), but it will always be ds bed.

This is a closer look at the border material.

So now to sandwich it together with the batting and backing material, and then I can start and machine quilt it.

Beautiful pieces Gill, a lady of many talents. It must be so satisfying to see the results and I can only imagine how long it must have taken you to put these works of art together.

What a beautiful pair of humming birds you’ve on your cross stitch! I very much like the details on the border. It must have taken you awhile to complete it.
I'd love to see 'how' you are doing your quilt. The colours are very subtle.

The cross stitch is so very pretty!

Congrats on your strings finish. They are one of my favourite quilts and I'm yet to make one for myself.

I dont think it is girly. It is lovely. And your cross stitch is fantastic too. I wonder if you could help me with my quilting problems. I am a complete novice at anything sewing wise..I had four brothers and never really got a look in with my mum to learn these things...If your too busy then I understand, but when you read my blog later you will see the problem lol.

Cross stitch! My favourite pastime! Unfortunately, I started having some problems with my eyes, so I've been having an enforced rest, for the past 12 months or so. I bought a couple of handbag mirror kits, to stitch as Christmas presents, but didn't manage to finish them, partly because I caught flu just before Christmas. I'm not giving up, though.

Your latest cross stitch is beautiful. The quilt is amazing, too.

Gee--you are one talented woman, Gill. Your cross stitch is gorgeous. I do love those colors. AND--since I'm a quilt lover, I ADORE that quilt. That blue material you are using as a border is simply gorgeous. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Hugs,
Betsy

It's gorgeous...well the cross stitch and the quilt... and I think you did a great job... My grandma always used to put her quilt tops on top of beds in the house for a day or two til she was satisfied that they were long enough or would look right... I just don't have the patience and time to do quilting... cross stitching is okay but after I have been doing it a while the holes and x's start running together! LOL

Have a great day
Love, Jess

Beautiful! You know I lurve cross-stitch and I can certainly appreciate the long hours it takes to complete even a small project. It's a beauty! Perhaps when your tired of it you'll have a giveaway for it? (hint, hint) ha ha

I never quite got into cross-stitch but I sure admire it and those who have the patience to do it, like quilting.

Funny, I'll take a week to paint a glass but think it's time consuming to make a quilt. :-)

These are interesting handcrafts. I've also been doing cross-stitches, crochets and some others even when I was a kid, my mom made me love doing them. It's just a pity I don't have much time these days to gather all my materials. By seeing your work, makes me realize again how enjoying it would be. Thanks for sharing.
