What the heck happened?

I input my March grocery numbers into Excel and up popped $413.84 for the amount spent in March???  Savings, only $48.04...........pretty miserable if you ask me!!!

April HAS to better regardless.  Yes I know we had Easter, but in the scheme of things that shouldn't have made too much of a difference but I guess it did?  Ideally I would like to only spend $200 this month, but realistically $300 is a better number for us.  Remember also that my grocery totals include all cleaning and personal products as well as food items.

For the first three months of the year I have averaged out at $315.36  a month in spendings, and $63.17 a month in coupons and savings.  I need to do better!!

I published another couple book reviews here, if anyone is interested?

I spent a lot of Tuesday morning on the computer catching up on blogs.  I know shocker.  If I didn't pop by your blog and comment on it, please yell at me!!!  I also deleted 310 Spam messages that I had received in my Spam box since March 26th.  I still get a lot of Spam messages coming through on my my comment page as well.  That's why I moderate all my comments.

An older friend in her 80's is deciding to have a cleaning out session in the hopes of having a garage sale when the weather is better.  She has a HUGE collection of Precious Moments ornaments like this one:

Now I don't claim to know anything about them, but said I would try to sell some on Kijiji, as I can do that for free.  Does anyone have tips or hints on selling these?  She doesn't have a computer, or a digital camera, so I thought I'd help out with this.

I think you're doing pretty well to be honest Gill. The price of stuff is going up all the time so well done, whatever you save.

I don't know anything about the ornaments, but good luck with your spending (or lack thereof!) this month :)

We average $500 a month for groceries, paper goods, cleaning products and personal care - for just the two of us. We make all of our meals at home and we don't even eat meat!

I agree with the above - that is still an accomplishment! W find food to be so expensive round here, even at No Frills, I am sure food is cheaper back home in England??

Good job on the groceries; I also need to cut back I think. Kijiji is a good start on the Precious Moments under collectibles I would think. Enjoy the sunshine.

I am over budget by about 57. for March. Just plucked it all on the budget sheet. remember too that March had five weekend shopping trips. I used coupons at Bulk barn and stocked up/. So like you said April has to be better. Dog food has smaller size bags again for the same price as the old size. Means I have to buy an extra dog bag a month to make up for the difference. Fruits form Mexico are here now so prices will drop....maybe?

Our budget was in red for the past quarter. Almost $50 in savings would be great in my books :)

Well coming from the country and now sitting in Hamilton not on the mountain I notice groceries are very expensive. Good for all you city dwellers:)

Precious Moments are very pretty I knew someone told me they are quite valuable I hope she does alright. You are a good friend. B

For two people you are doing better than us. We had exactly one hamburger takeout $20 in the month of March and ate the rest at home and were way over. Prices just keep escalating and there are less and less coupon deals to be had.

My mom has a big collection from many years of collecting Precious Moments. I'll have to figure out how to sell her's one day too.

I think you do so good on your spending. I wish I could get by with that amount of spending.

I am not sure about the Precious Moments...when I am wondering what stuff brings, I check prices on Ebay. That might give you an idea of what people expect for them.

Hotel Stay - Dinner

As part of our hotel stay the kids had booked us dinner, breakfast and afternoon tea. Here is what we ate at dinner.  Everything was spot on...
