Skywatch Friday......

First let me say these photos aren't very good, and I apologise for that. I did use the night setting, but I am guessing I should have done something else, please feel free to let me know what I did wrong. They were taken from our patio doors, and the frame work is from our gazebo on the deck.

However the reason I wanted to include these photos, as when I got up on Sunday morning (11th) and looked out of my kitchen window at 7am, I saw the most gorgeous full moon, and it reminded me of one of my favourite movies, Moonstruck, starring, Cher and Nicholas Cage. For the rest of the morning I was humming the tune, "When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore." Now don't blame me if you start humming that tune!!!

Gill, I remember that movie and also that song!!!! When I see a full moon, I always sing "Shine On--Shine On Harvest Moon." Remember that one---or am I just too old???? ha ha

Hugs,
Betsy

That song will be running through my mind until I fall asleep tonight. But your pictures make it worth it.

I too like the one with the moon in the gazebo!

I got a new camera for Christmas and hoped I could take some of the moon. Haven't practiced yet so I can't give any hints.

I think that's a great movie. One of my (and a lot of peoples') fave lines - Snap out of it!! I think the moon is notoriously difficult to get, you did well!

Nice pictures Gill.

The full moon has been beautiful here also. Especially with the brilliant clear skies and the hills in the background. Must get myself a decent camera that will capture the moon in all its brilliance. Apparently we had king tides to correspond as well.

The pictures are great, better than any I have ever taken of the moon.

Hope you are keeping warm.

Moon photos after dusk seem to be hit or miss, even with a tripod. Although the tripod helps greatly.

Hi Gill,
Nice Skywatch pictures! I posted a moon picture the other day when it was full and one of the comments was about that song, so it was in my head all day!
How do you survive there with it being so cold!!! It's 24 degrees and we think that's cold here in the deep south USA.

THey are better than my pictures of the moon! I never have great success with moon photography. I do know that full moons are harder to photograph because the light is reflecting straight back at us and is very bright. Also a friend told me I should use a filter when photographing the full moon - to reduce glare
