Writing and mailing letters.......

It's not something I do that often, in fact I only correspond on a regular basis with our next door neighbour in England; and by regular I mean I send a letter maybe four or five times a year.  On Tuesday I sat down and wrote a letter to them; then while I was cleaning out a drawer I found another note card from an acquaintance in the States, so I also wrote a note to her.

I went to the post office on Wednesday and discovered that the cost of mailing these letters has increased again.  It now costs $1.80 plus tax to mail a letter to Britain, and $1.05 plus tax to mail a letter to the States.  Even sending a letter in Canada costs 61 cents.

With these prices I am guessing it is one reason that sending an email is so popular.  Though I will say I find an email not as personal and would prefer people to call me to talk.  Must admit though, it is nice to sit down with a cup of tea and a biscuit, reading a letter.

Do you write letters or notes and mail to people?

FYI: Shopper's Drug Mart is having a "Spend $75 and get 18,500 Points," this weekend.  So hunt out your coupons and match them with the deals and earn those points.  Oh, and don't forget to buy a Shopper's gift card first to pay for your groceries, and get points for buying it.

I am hoping to use $10 worth of coupons,  to bring my total including taxes below my $75 weekly budget.

I miss the days of writing and receiving letters. I think this is why I so enjoy Christmas Cards, Birthdays cards and such still. Good luck on your Shopper's Drugmart savings.

I like letters too...but then I love email...my best friend lives 400 miles away and we email back and forth all day long when she is at home...she works part time so not home every day.

I have wondered if the postage is going up because they don't have enough business so they have to raise prices...our keeps going up down here, too.

Postage up again! I still write to one girl friend in England, -----since 1954! Regular correspondence to other friends and relatives is now done by e-mail. My UK Cristmas cards and gifts might just be a thing of the past.

I often have to write notes to send to people with leaflets and things they request from the Oratory, maybe once every month and a half or so? We often run out of stamps in our office, that's for sure!

I used to be a letter-writing fiend! Seriously, at one time I think I probably had about 60 penfriends. It's got to the point where I hardly even write emails any more and I find that sad. I've told myself for many years that I will do better, but I haven't. Sheer laziness on my part. I agree, though, getting a hand-written letter is really lovely and very personal. I miss it. And I'm going to turn your question into a challenge and actually do it this year!

I am trying to write a letter a week. Hope I stick to it. Oh my! $1.80? This week's letter is headed for England.

I better check my coupons and hope I can use a few at Shopper's!

Hi Gill! I do not write many letters these days--I'm much better on Facebook and e-mail and the phone. But I do have an Aunt that doesn't have a computer and has problems hearing on the phone, so she really enjoys getting cards and letters so I write her a couple of times a month. I have to say, I also enjoy getting cards and letters too, but they are quickly becoming a thing of the past, aren't they?

I have to admit the only people I write to on a regular basis (more than a Christmas card) are my parents and a couple of aunts and an uncle who do not have computers. I send photos to them, too, so I have to go to the post office every time to get them weighed...
Love that sunset photo, too!

I rarely write letters anymore, mailed cards at Christmas and it almost cost me 30 dollars! ridiculous! i prefer email as I hate paper clutter and I don't cherish letters and cards like i maybe should. rose Canada post said the rates are going up because of lack of business but it doesn't make sense as fewer people will use it now
