It was a dollar sale at No Frills this week, so stocked up on canned meat (for dh's lunches), bread and other things. Best deal from there, would be 70 gram packages of shredded (grated) cheese for $1 per package. I had a $5 off coupon, so got five packages for free.
Zehrs was also having a dollar sale and when I went into town I called in there. Picked up a package of Special K cereal, a package of Fibre Plus cereal and a package of Special K Crisps strawberry bars, and after coupons I paid $5.48 for all three.
I went over budget this week and ended up spending $90.85, all was food other than $10.30 and that was for some Glucosamine. I used $14.47 in coupons, bringing my monthly total to $138.59 spent (still under my $75 week budget) and a total of $31.99 in coupons and savings.
I had three no spend days, Monday through Wednesday. Put money in both my sealed pot jar, which I have finally sealed up so I don't keep counting it (fyi: have over $11 in there) and put money in my loonie and twoonie pot, have over $30 in there. Put money in my birthday, Christmas and other pot. Did the last three digit move from chequing to savings account.
Got a coupon in with the flyers for 12 x Canadian Tire money when filling the car with gas. Ended up putting $60 in gas in the car, I was running on fumes!! So I got $2.40 in Canadian Tire money. They gave me a $2 note, I have never had or seen one of those before. Saving my Canadian Tire money up for either gardening or canning items.

Job Well Done!
~~peace & love & joy & blessings~~
Great shopping day there, Gill. We popped into the No Frills in Owen Sound before my Dr. appt, and picked up a couple of items. I was so tempted to buy a ham @ $1/lb, but resisted as I am still dedicated to the "No Meat til Freezer is Empty" challenge. ....and bacon at $2/lb ! Wowsers ! Just got some fruit & veggies.
Well I certainly admire your thrift. I need to take on something like this. My kids have caused my money to run through my hands like water. Just had my credit card bill in. OUCH! :(
Great shopping deals! I have a pie of flyers here, Loblaws also has $ days, and I'm trying to decide what I'd like to stock up on... with my no-spend month, I really want to make sure the items are "needed"! Wish me luck! ;)
I think you should come stay with me for a while and train me in your ways!!! I do have my jars though and keep putting change in those --- it does add up quickly. I have had several no spend days -- I have found that since "retirement" I am doing a lot more thinking about what I am buying and whether I need it or not.
With today's weather we'll need to save on groceries to pay the heating bills!!

Wow! You are so organised. Great coupon savings and savings for your sealed pots.
Just learnt what a loonie and twoonie. Feel proud I know.
Keep up the great work Gill!

You do so good with coupons, and I seldom see one for the things I use...and when I do, it is so seldom that i forget to use it. Which is really aggravating.
I'd love to know your secret for finding such great coupons! You are amazing.
Gill,
We also had these $1.00 day on certain items and I found it very worth while. Canned tomatoes no-salt, ice cream, apple juice, just to name a few. I think the stores in general may be suffering from post Christmas stress. If you received money for Christmas now is the time to shop, and not just for groceries.
Good deals this week, I've got No Frills on my list already, can't pass up those bargains. It's nice to meet another Canadian blogger, and one that is also British like me.
Well done on the 3 no spend days Gill. I'm finding putting money in my sealed pot addictive!
