Last three digit savings plan............

I thought I'd explain more about this, as Lindsay brought this up yesterday.  It was something I had talked about way back in the day!!  It is such an easy think to do and pretty painless with super results, as Lindsay said yesterday, she has saved five thousand pounds in three years.

I do my banking once a week online on a Wednesday as that is when dh gets paid.  After I have sorted out what goes where etc I see how much money we have left in our chequing account.  If it is $599.75, I will transfer $9.75 so our balance is $590.00 even.  If it were $593.75, I would transfer $13.75.  You want an even number as your balance because it makes more sense right!!!  LOL

It may not seem like a lot you are saving, but believe me, those small amounts add up over time, as Lindsay can attest too.

It's not a big thing, but it's a good thing right?

I do something similar except I use it for debt repayment. Everyday I round the bank account down to the nice even number, and pay those few extra dollars to debt. You would be surprised how quickly it adds up and how painless it is!

A very logical idea, Gill. Almost like paying yourself a little bit once a week. A little is a lot sometimes, is it not? LOL

that sounds a great idea it all adds up in the end.

Well, all those little things add up and are pretty painless -- like the change at the bottom of the handbag. I like the way you think.

Such a great idea, I am going to do that for extra payments on my car, to get that debt down faster.
My sealed pot is growing thanks to your blog which listed web sites for coupons. I only use the coupons when the item is on sale, then add the sale and coupon savings to the pot.

That seems like a easy idea to implement. I just checked my account & transferred $3.24 to savings. I will try to remember to keep doing it & see how I go. I like Christy's idea of making them extra repayments on debt.

Looking at this briefly it seems to me a little confusing. But if works for you I see nothing wrong with it.

So far I've been pretty much on task and Wednesday I should have post about it.

Coffee is on.

I take whatever is left over in the bank acoount every two weeks and put it in the tax free account. You can always break into that account if you want and get a bigger interest rate then a normal account. Its all about the money!

Hello, stopping over from Becky's ~~Life for Us~~ As for your posting about savings I have been saving this way for 3 yrs now and Boy does it ever add up fast..first I take 10 0/0 off top of paycheck.. then I pay bills , grocery for week etc.. at end of week before next payday deposit I take whatever is left and slide that into savings even if it's a nickle.. I always start my checking register with amount of pay - 10 0/0 for savings and end of week rest goes into savings...
I call it "paying ourselves first"..works GREAT for us...
