This week I thought I'd show you some photos of the Angel Oak tree in Charleston SC. Clink on the link to read more about it. I love the last photo the best, the way I took the photo looking up through the branches at the sky.

Its been years since I've visited Angel Oak...it was once a favorite picnic are for us, before the world found her and started removing bits and pieces as a souvenier. I understand she's fenced off from the world now. Pity that. Pity that people couldn't keep their cotton pickin' hands off her so we could all still picnic beneath her branches.

I know we took pictures of the same tree.
How many can there be?
I love this tree. I'll go back and visit it again one day!

What a fascinating tree. I don't think I've ever seen an angel oak before; thank you for sharing this. I want to just scramble up there and look out over the view.
An incredible tree. What beauty.
Nince shots, I have never seen a tree quite like this!
What a cool tree! It looks very Tolkien-esque.
For a tree hugger, this is like disneyland for me. Oh how magnificent.
Very fairytale like!
Wonderful shots.
Omg, that tree is just amazing, the age and stories it could tell. Don't know what it is with me and trees I just love them.
Beautiful tree - wonderful shape. A x
What gorgeous photos, I just love nature. I have an old knarled tree I photographed one last year in Hertfordshire. If I can find it I will certainly link. Margaret
What an intriguing tree. It reminds me of sleepy hollow. Original choice.
That tree has lots of character. It could star in a movie! I agree with Amy that this could be an ent in a Tolkien book.
I love them all! But if I have a favorite it is the last one -- looking up at the sky through the branches! Breathtaking! Thanks for sharing!
Just like a fairytale :) Great :)
What a fabulous old tree, with the sky peeking through.
Beautiful photos and subject. Thank you for sharing.

There are a few "hairy trees" around here. I don't know if they're the same kind or not but the foliage growing on them are not part of the tree - must be some invasive plant that takes them over and stays green throughout the cold winter.
My own pictures of them didn't come out very well, though. Yours are fabulous!
Live oaks are notoriously hard to photograph but you nailed it! I'm so impressed. Thank you for sharing it. Happy SWF!
