Watery Wednesday

This photo was taken at the Welland Canal back in June of 2008. I actually posted a series of these photos, along with some information about the canal on this post

It was actually very interesting to watch the ships go in and out of the canal.

Wow! I think it's amazing that they can manuever that huge ship through that channel. I wonder how many have bumped the sides.
:-D Great shot!

Hello Gill
I see what you mean - slightly bigger lol
We did visit some friends one year who live close to the canal can't exactly remember the place. They don't stay around for the
winter but toodle off down to Florida. Chicken??
Take care

Enlarging this was wonderful to see all the great detail you captured!
This is like our locks on the river here but with smaller boats.

I liked the clouds too! I've never seen ships go through canals. I think it would be so cool to watch.

Gill: we didn't know each other back when you took those pics in June but you were only about 10 mins. away from my house. Next time, we will have to meet up.

I enlarged and it's beautiful! Amazing to see the big ship in the narrow canal. I wonder how deep it is.

I've always been fascinated by shipping canals like this. Very nice -- and different -- post for Watery Wednesday.

Wowzie! That is a narrow canal for such a ship. Quite mesmerizing to watch I would have thought. This photo clearly demonstrates the importance of exact measuring by the ships personnel. Great capture (sky and all).

That would be a pleasant summer (operative word) pasttime; very nice park.

That ship is a tight squeeze through the canal. The clouds look wonderful.
