Sometimes it's the most simple things that give us the greatest pleasure......

I sat down for breakfast the other day, with toasted homemade bread, plenty of butter (not homemade) and some homemade raspberry jam.......just perfect.....

Oh, and on Saturday I seemed to have the luck of the Irish, as they say. We have been invited to a Black Tie Dinner Dance in February, a really very posh do. So of course when I went to look in my closet, I didn't see any long fancy evening gowns in there.......shocker or what!!!! Dh is going to rent a tux for the night, but that's not an option for me. Also we are invited to a wedding in October, so it would make sense if I could use the same dress for both events.

So me and dh went dress shopping for me on Saturday. As I am a "full-figured" type of gal, I go to a plus sized store first, recommended by someone. Well I wasn't inspired, and they had nothing suitable. However they were helpful and told me to go to another store. So off we go and I walk in, find dh a seat and wander off. I told the sales girl what I was looking for she pointed me the direction of this dress with a jacket that she thought would be suitable. Well I took one look at it, and it was perfect. I went to try it on, and it fit like a glove. I mean what are the odds........plus it was on sale, should have been $310, on sale for $199.99. So now I just have to find some shoes and a handbag, I'm thinking gold, as the dress is a bronze colour?

It's beautiful. I love the sheen. The first one looked like chocolate. Gold may work-especially something strappy. You may get blessed to find a perfect color. Take the jacket with you. Looks like you lucked out for sure.

Goog Morning Gill,
What a special way to plan a shopping trip, enjoying homemade bread and jam...
Your dress is beautifull and once you get the shoes and handbag, you will be belle of the ball. Enjoy yourself!

looks great- I like the colour. I have to say- that toast and jam looks wonderful!! Don't eat too much or you won't get in to your dress (sorry I sound like the food police- just jealous really).

That looks gorgeous Gill - love the collar on the jacket. A bargain too. Gold or you can get a bronzy colour or maybe black patent sandals if you can wear a heel.

The homemade bread and jam looked good!

Wow! That is a BEAUTIFUL dress! What a score!

I'd say gold, or maybe something in a warm brown (alligator clutch? something like that?)

Enjoy the "do" ... you will look divine.

gorgeous...Laura is one of my favourite stores, and they often have really good sales, I've bought several fancy and everday outfits for the same price as a Sears item would cost, but better quality.

I'm sure you'll look loverly :)

Homemade bread and jam -- what could be better than that? The dress is very pretty, but ... homemade bread and jam.

Lucky you :-)

Now I'm off to my kitchen to make me some toast with jam! Somehow I suddenly got hungry.

Beautiful Gill. I despise to shop--but when I absolutely 'need' something, I will do it.. AND--finding the perfect thing always makes us feel good, doesn't it????

I've been trying to shop for my 88 yr. old mother-in-law. She's a tiny thing (short and about a size 6 or so).. WELL--she wants typical OLD WOMAN clothes--and they are SO hard to find, especially in her size. That's when I despise shopping.

Have a wonderful day. When is the Black Tie affair? Valentine's Day?
Hugs,
Betsy

Well first that toast looks DELICIOUS! I'll get my tea ready! Wow!

Okay for the accessories... I think you should do bronze, yes they make strappy type or you could do traditional wedge bronze hued appropriate shoes. A small gold purse would look lovely.

Whenever I look at a woman and I see her shoes first because they are so 'loud', it takes away from the complete look they are trying to achieve.

Or go with classic black shoes.

Very pretty dress, I am sure you will look elegant in it!

That's a very classy frock, elegant and it looks very slimline.

Maybe you could get that shade of bronze in the shops now. Something like this http://www.shoes.com/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?p=EC1093276&pg=5064159

Let us see what you buy. Maybe you could model the outfit.
