I am obsessed, I need a favour, my hair AGAIN!!! And see how the world would vote in the US Election.......

As you will have noticed I have been playing around with the look of my blog. Wish I'd left it alone, but never mind. While I was playing around with it, I lost my counter at the bottom, so I put a new one on called "Sitemeter." Now I have to say that is one of the neatest things ever. I have become obsessed with it, well with a section of it anyway. There is a world map, where there are dots which indicate where people are checking in from. I mean its great I just love it. I know little things amuse little minds, but this keeps me out of mischief.

Of course the most dots I have are in Canada and the United States, followed by Britain and Australia. There are the odd dot from other places, but I seem to have big gaps in Eastern Europe, Asia and South America.

So this is where the favour comes in. Do any of you know any other bloggers in the far flung corners of the world? I am sure you do. Would you mind asking them to pop over to my blog. They don't have to comment or anything. I just want to see some dots popping up in out of way places.......am I strange or what?

When I checked my world map on Thursday morning I got all excited as there was a dot in the pacific ocean, it turned out someone in Hawaii had popped in. I also had some one in Lithuania pop in, got all excited about that as well.

So pretty, pretty please ask your blogging friends to pop on by.

Now my hair..don't groan. This is so unusual, well for me anyway, that I thought it may interest you all.

About a month ago I started to experience an itchy scalp. So of course the first thing that popped into my mind was head lice......aaarrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhh!! However I also had a burning sensation on my scalp. I knew I hadn't been near anyone with head lice, but I checked myself and couldn't see anything.

It sort of went away, but every now and then, it would flare up. Anyhow this past week, I have been past myself with the itchiness and the burning sensation. I will say I had changed shampoo from Herbal Essenes to Pantene, so I figured maybe the Pantene was irritating my scalp, so switched to Dove, which is very mild. However things got no better.

So on Tuesday I got dh to check my scalp and he couldn't see anything. I decided to put itchy, burning scalp into Google to see what popped up and you won't believe what it said..........STRESS This was caused by stress??? Dh had a doctors appointment on Wednesday so I went along and got the doctor to look at my head, just to make sure there wasn't anything there. He confirmed my scalp looks perfectly normal, no dandruff, no head lice, no redness.

Isn't that the strangest thing you have ever heard? Now I will say I have had a couple of things going on this past couple of weeks that have made me feel a bit stressed, but nothing overly exciting. This has never ever happened to me before.

Now I need my hair cut and dyed, but honestly the thought of putting dye on my hair is not at all appealing as my head feel as though its on fire. I did however go and get my hair cut today, at "N's" house and she did a great job. I will be going back to her, as I can afford to have it done there and she is a really nice person. She also said she had another customer who has the same problem.

We agreed to keep off the dying of my hair at the moment, until my scalp settles down, so I am going to be very multi-coloured for a while.

Finally my friend "P" sent me this link and it is really interesting. Click on the link and see what you think.............it tells you what would happen in the US election if the world voted.

Hi,
I have a world map and I have noticed that a lot of Asia is missing...I dont know if is it language barriers or cultural...hate that big blank space!!
As far as scalp goes, that is really common and it has been know for people to itch it until a bald spot and eczema appear. Try T-gel shampoo or Nizorelle..Stress increases fungal activity on the scalp, and it doesnt help if you comfort eat sweet things.
Avoid too much sugar in your diet as well for a bit, see if it improves...Not a complete sugar ban..that is just too extreme hehe I got it a lot when my teenage daughter rebelled..she is twenty now so it has calmed down a lot hehe

Mnay years ago my son had itchy scalp and actually had a bald spot - turned out to be psiaris (spelling I know is wrong) due to stress - he was a very hyperactive lad! It was succssfully treated and my son, now aged 40, tells me ocassionally he has a flare up on his upper arms.

I swim a lot which means shampooing often and have now turned to the "Simple" brand.

Oh that is horrible to have an itchy scalp. I get one occassionally too - try Selsen Blue shampoo - I use it every time my scalp gets itchy, and it seems to help it go away.

Hair. No wonder they did a play about it...it's the all consuming issue of any day of my week and I own about fifty hats...just to cover the worst of any situation...ever considered a hat?
You do make me laugh!

Opps, Gill...I did want to tell you to put a tablespoon of honey in your shampoo, work the shampoo in and just massage that scalp for at least one minute...funny how we just do a quick suds and rinse but love it when the stylist spends lots of time on just shampooing! The honey really does soothe!

gill: i've had the itchy scalp thingy. when i worked with children they often had lice, which i would find on them, and i just had to think of it and my head would crawl. we constantly checked each other out for the problem at work. but i came to believe that the more you think of it, the worse it gets. even now i can feel that familiar 'tingle' as i remember the thoughts and feelings.
true honestly.
also thanks for the link to the saudi lady's blog. it looks interesting.
i'm interested to check that out.
good luck with your head. LOL
i'm sure it will pass.

I hope that you get lots of dots from all over the place, but sorry to say that I cannot help, as my dots are all from the same places as yours!!

Really hope that the problem with your scalp starts to clear up soon, sounds really horrid.

Dave McMahon over at Author Blog seems to have a huge international bloglist. You should take a look at it and leave comments on their blogs. Or just post your plea with him.
As for the hair, don't dye it 'cause all the dye will stick in the raised skin and look really weird!

Hi Gill, stress can cause the strangest maladies, scalp problems being one of them. I know when I get real tired my scalp tends to itch. Sounds like some people have offered some good advice. I will post your request on my blog over the weekend. Have a great one yourself and hope that problem goes away soon.

I'm never without copious amounts of stress. I have really thick hair and in the summertime my head sweats like I don't know what. That started an itchy scalp for me. And it was irritated. I don't have dandruff. However, hubby uses the Head & Shoulders in the black bottle -- the expensive kind. Label said it worked for itchy scalp. I know it's kind of pricy, but if you could get ahold of a sample bottle, that'd be all you need. I used it ONE TIME and it ended it. No more itch, my head went back to normal and even with the sweating the rest of the summer, I wasn't bothered again.

Pantene made my hair yucky. At first it was nice, but in two weeks it was gross. Hair dresser told me never to use it. The build up is disgusting.

I like plain old suave. It doesn't leave any crud on my hair and gets it clean.

I believe China's access to various websites is strictly limited. I have friends in Malaysia though and I'll have them drop in :)

Hi,

I'm your South African dot!

I'm allergic to Sodium Laurel Sulphate, which is found in most shampoos, it makes my head burning and itching. It might be worth your while to try a SLS-free shampoo...

ps. I love my map on my blog too.

Wonder why currently only Macedonia and Albania would vote for McCain?

Reason for less blogging in Asia could be an internet access problem not just a cultural one. Also if you don't have broadband it's a nightmare.
