We're all going on a summer holiday........
We're all going on a summer holiday.
No more working for a week or two.
Fun and laughter on a summer holiday.
No more worries for me and you.
For a week or two.
We're going where the sun shines brightly.
We're going where the sea is blue.
We've seen it in the movies.
Now lets see if its true.
Everybody has a summer holiday.
Doing things they always wanted to.
So were going on a summer holiday.
To make our dreams come true.
For me and you.

Those lyrics seemed appropriate as today we leave for our Summer Holidays. I will be posting while we are away, so keep checking in.
Now here is the You Tube video for Cliff Richard singing the song.......it's an oldie but a goody.

A little bit of family history to go with this. My dad played in a band many moons ago. Cliff Richard was often accompanied with a group called The Shadows, and my dad's band was the opening act for the The Shadows back in the early 60's when they played in Carlisle.
Here is one of their famous songs again thanks to You Tube for this:

Now of course if you're British and were around in the 50's and 60's this is a blast from the past. Not sure if they were big in the States? I was born in the early 60's so not sure about what's what. Dad of course was a big fan of both both Cliff Richard and The Shadows..........
(A big thank you to Denise for supplying the picture........I have the exact same hat!!)

Oh, Enjoy!!!
I start vacation in a little over a week, and though most of it will be spent at home doing projects, we do plan to head for the beach if it's hurricane-free!
Take lots of pics!
Hope you have a great trip and look forward to reading all about it :)
Hey, I was listening to a spot of Cliff this arvo - a duet with Van Morrison "Wherever God Shines his Light"..or something like that.
Happy holidaying. Lisa x
Have a great vacation Gill and I will keep checking in while you are away. That's fascinating about your Dad's band. What was his band's name? Of course I remember Cliff Richards and The Shadows, so does hubby. As a matter of fact, Cliff Richards used to date a friend of a friend from my Paignton days. She was a tennis player, Susan something or other I think.
Have fun relax and take pictures!
