I have a link on the bottom of my blog which tells me who visits my blog and where from etc. I haven't looked at it in a long while but for some reason on Monday I "peeked." I was so surprised to see that I am averaging around 168 visits everyday. So for those of you who are visiting my little old blog a big, big thank you. Now don't be shy leave me a message, as I love to hear from people.
Now the Afro hairstyle comment. Have you ever heard of the expression that eating burnt toast will make your hair curly? Well on Monday night I decided to barbecue, which is never a good idea. Dh doesn't cook period, never has and probably never will. So all the cooking is left for me to do, which I don't mind. However I hate barbecuing, as everything I cook on it turns black. I think the problem is I tend to wander off, to do other stuff in between flipping the burgers. I know on Monday night I prepared the fixings for the burgers, prepared a Cesar salad, set the table etc, etc.
So of course the burgers were a tad on the black side again. You've got to admire dh, he never ever complains. So that is why we should have Afro hairstyles as we always eat burnt food when I barbecue. On a more positive side, I maybe only barbecue once a week in the summer, which is just as well, as the smoke coming out of the barbecue when I barbecue may make someone want to call the fire brigade!!
Do you barbecue and if you do, what is your favourite recipe? I tend to only barbecue burgers or sausages.
I picked some more raspberries on Monday, only another 14 ounces. The guy didn't open up so never got to talk to him. Monday was a quiet day, with nothing much happening around the acreage, which believe me is a good thing!

I can almost taste the raspberries from here! Lucky you having them on your property!!
GG and the boys do ALL the BBq-ing here. I never touch it. They do everything out there, chicken, cutlets, vegetables, stirfry, pizza. Love it!
I hate to barbecue, hubby mostly leaves it up to me too. i also wander off and do othetr things and yes, food is a bit black. we aren't original, hamburgers, sausages and hot dogs. evelyn
I barbeque ribs burgers, hot dogs,
dont do as often as I would like, not enough people to cook for
I'm with you, I hate doing the grill thing. Thank goodness our one daughter usually does it for me. But about all I like is hot dogs grilled, to much of the other kinds of meat seem to be too choky even if not burnt.
I've heard the crust of the bread will give you curly hair, but never anything burnt. LOL
I was just reading today...saw your comment about lurking...so hello dear Gill...hope all is well and that the afro goes away soon! LOL
Love, Jess
I can taste them too. I love raspberries.
I really like cooking pork chops on the barbeque. We don't do a lot on ours though unless it gets really hot and humid.
"You've got to admire dh, he never ever complains"
Why is that admirable? If he's not going to do any of the cooking, he has no right to complain about it.
We don't grill as much as we'd like to--it's late by the time we get dinner on but pork tenderloin is easy and very tasty on the grill. I marinade it in a peparared teriaki sauce like McCormack's or Island Soy then stick it on the grill. Delicious!
Cheers!

I can't remember the last time we barbecued. In fact it rusted away and we've never replaced it. Like you we used to burn a lot of things. Dh hated cooking on the grill and like you there was always something I needed to do and with that you seem to have to babysit the darned thing. So afraid I don't have any recipes for you. Now just LOVE going down to his Dad's who is a skilled chef in outdoor cooking. He never passed that skill down to his son though.
I've been lurking too. I hate barbecues, husband makes noises about getting one but I don't offer any encouragement! Sorry no recipes. Husband does do a lot of cooking though, winter here in Australia, so lots of casserole type things. Laughed about your adventures with the ride on mower! We too have acreage with only one small hill so not as scary. We now have our neighbours horses on our place and voila, grass looks cut, no effort on our part except raking up huge piles of horse poo, never mind great for the garden.
Cheers and hope your weather improves.

It makes me crazy when DH BBQs as he does the same thing: wanders off, burns it all. Bah!!! LOL :) So I showed him what I do. Heat up the bbq till its nice and hot. Turn off the burner on one side. turn it DOWN on the other side. Put the meat on the side where the heat is OFF. Then go play around, but do come back at some point and flip things. Burgers cook fast on a grill though. Fave recipe: The Wholesale Club carries marinade mixes and my FAVE is white wine and herb on chicken (and veggies). Haven't had it in a long while and haven't succeeded in duplicating it yet. Love shish kabobs... Also hamburgers (just plain ground beef in a ball) with a bit of bleu cheese shoved inside, flattened, seasoned with salt & pepper. mmmm. Diana's steak marinade makes a cheap cut of steak taste divine. I just douse the meat in it when I buy it, put it in a freezer bag and freeze it till I'm ready to cook it. On charcoal: I love chicken legs seasoned with seasoning salt and that's all. YUM. And I don't care for dark meat. It's the only way I care to eat it. :)
