That's it, I'm moving back to the city, I've bloody well had enough....

Now granted I am very hormonal at the moment but puleeeezzzeee no more!!!

I went down to the city to see our bundle of joy pictured below and was running a couple of errands while there.  Normally on the way home I heave a sigh of relief and feel very relaxed the further north I go.  I did not have that feeling yesterday and couldn't understand why......

I get home and there is a message on the answering machine from my mother, so I thought I'd give her a call back to see what she wanted.  Picked up the phone to discover it wasn't working.  Had the same issue with it the day before, so called dh (using my cell phone) and got him to call the home phone (don't know why I didn't just do it?) and it wouldn't work.  So remove all phones from the jacks and plug them back in, still no phones.

Call Bell to see if there is a problem with the line and the lady says no and tries to schedule an appointment for a tech guy to come out.  As you know if it's their problem they pay, but if its your problem they make you pay.  After explaining a number of times I only wanted to know if there was a problem with the line and NO I did not want a technician to come out, it was determined there wasn't a problem with the line.

Dh came home and to cut a long story short, which included digging out a tunnel of snow so he could crawl under the deck to check the jack that goes into the house; he discovered that some animal; a bloody mouse or mice had chewed through the phone line!!!  I ask you how many of you have had  bloody mice chew through their phone line????

Anyhow to cut another long story short, he repaired the line........dh is very handy thank goodness and the phone still isn't working.  So we figure maybe Bell has to reset the line or something.  So I call Bell back and maybe an hour if that has passed since I last called and would you like to know what she said:

THERE'S A PROBLEM IN YOUR AREA AND THE TECHNICIANS ARE WORKING ON IT.

I don't know who I want to throttle more the wildlife or bloody Bell......

I said to dh I am moving back to the city as at least then the bloody mice wouldn't chew through everything.........he said they have mice in the city, so could do it there {SIGH}  The phone is now working; but I'm still sick of the wildlife and Bell!

Look who's already one month old:

Now as I pointed out to Our little Princess  mother, she will not thank you for not wetting down her hair before taking this photo!!!  The little bracelets are all to do with religious ceremonies that they have done.  Nothing major, just ceremonies done at home.  She has such long legs doesn't she? And yes the sofa is orange!!!

What a sweetie! I once had a mouse eat through the fuel line on the car, or at least that's what the garage claimed had happened. I think they nicked it themselves during the service and mousey got the blame. I know what you mean about those moments where you've just had enough!

Well I haven't had mice chew through my phone line, but I have had a door installer cut through it while using a drill. I wanted to 'fix'him but it was against the law. Nitara is soooo cute it should be illegal!!!

sweet baby! we have the same problem with Bell Aliant here, they can't do a thing without sending a technician out, I don't know how many times I had to ask them to check the lines. They also are our ISP. what bugs me the most is they won't set a specific time, they ask you to be at home from 7 am to 7 pm. Ummm i work sorry. also, one time, it was a week before they could get out there! don't get me started on Bell aliant grrr

Nitara is absolutely gorgeous. I had window fitters who sliced straight through the cable which provided me with TV, phone and internet.Complete and utter idiots - it was obvious what the cable was. I made sure the company they worked for paid the bill for reconnection.

She looks so sweet. Oh and a month already?

Yea one of the purk of living in the country. Bell hates you Hydro hates you. I love how they will come and service you, any time between 8am and 5 pm, and you have to be there. Every spring our Bell line goes out as the lines go under the road ditch and it floods out.I have to call them. they come between 8am-5pm and all they do is switch the switch from one side to the other at the box at the end of the laneway. I told the Bell guy he could show me what to do and it would save us all the problems, but he wouldn't. When it flood our phone lines on this road all turn party lines again. I can hear all my neighbours conversations!

Mice nests in the tractor engine (six times at least)...in the car air conditioning unit (three times),but never the phone cable!
Nitara is going to be a tall girl isn't she?

We had a squirrel chew through the line as it came from the pole to the house a few years ago. I've had numerous issues with Bell over billing etc. and in the end dumped them totally. We have a plan from Telus, which costs less than Bell, and gives us way more features. Plus there is the benefit that there are no telemarketers as the number isn't listed in the Bell phone book.

Nitara is adorable :)

As for Bell, they suck no matter where you are. Have you looked into getting phone through cable or voice over internet with Rogers or Vonage?

Nitara's is growing well. I can't believe she is one month already! Sorry about your phone line. Things always seem worse in the winter, don't they!

Hi Gill,

I came over here after your comment on John's blog. You have my heartfelt sympathy. Mice? They will chew anything that stays still long enough and I'm still looking for a solution.

And for a pheasant who attacks me every time I step outside the back door. Then there's the woodpecker who wakes us up at dawn hammering on the soil stack. And the squirrels who stop at nothing to get at the bird feed.

Apart from all that, the country is lovely!

What a sweetie she is!!
The first call you made to Bell likely went overseas!!!
Life in the city is not always a bed of roses, mice here too, so are moles, yappy dogs, cat's that use your garden for a toilet. Loud music and cars and annoying neighbours, and the list goes on and on.

Awwwwwwww how cute.She's just adorable.
And I have to say, I'm not a lover of country living. I used to think it woild be great, when I lived in a city. Now I live in the coutry in a small village, I long for some poluted city air, shops that stay open past 6pm and places to eat out that don't involve placing your order at the bar with your table number.

Hi Gill,
I have an experience many years ago. One day my pet hamster escaped from her cage. A few days later, when I found her, I also found she chewed an electric cord. I was very surprised!

Tuesday was a mixed bag type of day. Had the appliance repair guy come again to install another circuit board in the fridge.  When hubby got...
