Big Day for the two "N's"

as they both start full time Kindergarten/School today.  

Nitara has been ready for many months, and as her birthday is in January she will be one of the older kids in her year.  Over here the intake period is the year you were born, whereas in Britain, you had to be born between the prior September through to August.  So Nora is still only there so she will be one of the younger ones.

Nitara will go to school on a yellow school bus, so is all excited about that.  Nora will walk to school, or her dad will drop her off.  Both are excited about going to school, but what will happen on the actual day who knows.  I do know that Nitara will probably be fine, but Nora will have tears.

Nora will transition into the routine a lot better, as she is used to daycare.  Whereas Nitara hasn't been to daycare, so may find it a little harder to figure out the social aspect of it all.  Regardless, both will be fine after the first few days.  Here are a few photos of the two "N's" from Saturday.

When they both start talking it's difficult to get a word in edge ways!!  I do love these two and they love one another.

Busy week ahead of us..........

Our daughter will be having her baby girl......finally!!!

Going to spend Tuesday doing a big batch cook for both ourselves and our daughter and family.  She found having meals on hand, just waiting to be heated up after having Our Little Munchkin was the best thing.

Having a wheat free diet seems to be the latest thing out there.  I thought this looked interesting and have signed up.

My pot of knitted hexagons is getting fuller and brighter!

 Haven't seen Our Little Princess and family for a couple of weeks, need to fit in a visit with them sometime.

Say hello to Jeina......

Jeina (pronounced Janea) was born May 30th at 11:24 am.  Weighing 6 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long.  So Our Little Princess and Our Little Man now have a younger sister.

Mother and Baby doing well.  Can't wait to meet her.

Our Little Princess......

well she was 3 in January and so grown up for her age.  She loves her little brother and is a great help to her mum.  Her favourite colour is pink and then says Our Little Munchkin's favourite colour is purple.........whether Our Little Munchkin has said that is another thing...LOL  She should be a lawyer when she grows up, as she can argue the hind legs off a horse!!  Love her to bits though........just try not to argue with her...LOL  Again don't have a current photo, but will take one next week when I see her.  Like her brother I made her an apron, love this fabric and you will see more of it over the coming days.

Actually this is Our Little Munchkins apron, but Our Little Princess' is the same, I just made the binding to match on hers though.  The link for the pattern is on yesterday's post.

I also decided to make her a bunny bag, from the March issue of Pretty Patches magazine.  The fabric I used was leftovers from Our Little Munchkin's original nursery things.

 I personally found this bag a bit long, and if I made it again I would change up a few things.

 I followed the pattern to the letter.

I made a matching pink change purse to go with it for her.

See Archie The Alien, you will see my version of it, in another post  I am really enjoying Pretty Patches magazine.  I buy it in Chapters and it is a British magazine and quite expensive though at $13.99, but lots of neat things in it.  I am still using my gift cards I got for my birthday to buy them.

Just seen a hot air balloon go past the house.  Looks kind of fun, if you don't mind heights.......

The morning's are so nice and cool at the moment, just love that.

Dh's hand is on the mend, still wearing the brace at work.

Talking about his work, the factory where he is contracted out to had to call the police in, as someone was growing marijuana plants in the grounds???  No one was arrested!

Dh was up at 2:30 am this morning to go to work........hopefully he'll be home by lunch time......

Our Little Munchkin went on a Thomas the Tank Engine train ride last weekend and had a great time:

This week she also said Nana without someone prompting her to say it!

Got all 9 gnomes done, just making another three now as "spares."

Our Little Man was running a temperature this week, but is fine now.  He'll be one on September 12th.

Our Little Princess has a new name now; "Little Miss Chatterbox," as she never shuts up and is always asking why.......sound familiar!

Going to get the yearly sticker/licence for my car today, as it goes up $10 in September......AGAIN!

Out in the garden

Someone's Nana remembered to bring stickers and something to stick them onto, making two little girls happy.

Always a pleasure seeing all three together.  Next time will be at Our Little Man's birthday in September.  The girls get on together well and know how to share, which is super important; and luckily Our Little Man, knows to keep out of the way of the women and do his own thing!!!  Clever boy.

A little cuteness for Yarn Along....

I made a couple more Gnomes this week for Our Little Princess and Our Little Man.

I used this pattern and Paton's Canadiana Yarn and US #4 needles.  They are the child size so I think around 8 inches high.  As I used smaller needles it's a tighter knit so you can't see the stuffing.  I am going to a baby shower at the end of August so would like to make one more to add to the gift.

Still hot and humid here and finally we had a break and it rained.
The sky was very busy before it rained.

Happy Canada Day and Yarn Along.

Today is Canada Day and it's Canada's 148th birthday.  You can read more about how Canada Day came about here.  As dh is contracted out to a factory and they can't shut down the big mills mid-week, so they are celebrating Canada Day on Friday; he gets a nice long weekend, which I think is better.

I have a couple of small finishes for my Yarn Along post this week.

I made another baby hat for Hannah (dh's co-worker's baby), this time a slightly bigger size; I love how it came out so pretty:

I also made a soft toy using this pattern:

Now please remember I only started knitting the middle of March of this year.  I have a long way to go before I can really say I am a knitter, but for my first attempt this wasn't bad.  I used 100% cotton yarn and this is the father size.  I need to practice my hand finishing as that leaves a lot to be desired.  

Angie at The Knitting Basket made a great suggestion at the Tuesday Knit and Stitch to knit my next one on smaller needles so it is a tighter weave, and that way you don't see the stuffing.  So instead of using US# 6, I will probably use US# 4 or 4.5.  

I printed out the pattern and you will need pages 1 through 20 for the body and pages 2 through 9 for the hat.  It is super simple to follow, I had no problems and it is a pretty quick and easy knit.  I am going to try it with some worsted yarn in a smaller size and in purple for Our Little Princess as that is her favourite colour.

The blue and yellow one I am going to give to Our Little Munchkin, as it reminds me of a Smurf and the blue food colouring "incident"!  Do you remember that?  If not you can read about it here.

I am not reading any books at the moment, just too busy with other things.

Photos from Saturday......

Our grands arrived on Saturday for a visit.  They were all as good as gold and are growing like weeds.  Our Little Man, is such a good boy we never hear a peep from him, mind you he can't get a word in edge ways for his sister!!!

 I was given a tomato plant, a green pepper plant and a container that contained a rhubarb, strawberry and blueberry bush by our kids.  The Princess and little man's parents gave me two gift cards, for Tim Hortons and Chapters, and a Risotto kit!

 We kept the two girls busy for a little while watering the plants.......

 As you can see the deck got watered as well!!

 The girls are ten months apart, but Our Little Munchkin is practically the same height of Our Little Princess now.  

 They both go to school at the same time, as Our Little Princess is a January baby, while Our Little Munchkin is a November baby.

 Our Little Princess chatter's away none stop.  She was helping her Granddad weed the garden and the questions were coming out of her mouth a mile a minute.  With a lot of WHY'S in there!!

 Our Little Munchkin was quite happy to let Our Little Princess do the talking!

We got lots of hugs and kisses from them all, which is a perfect way to spend the day!

Night and Day.....

On Saturday we had to turn the a/c on as it hit the mid 30's (oC).  On Tuesday the temperature just dropped and it went down to single digits with a gale force wind.

I noticed something different on one of our trees today.  I will apologize in advance for the quality of the photos, as it was so windy.  The top of the tree has purple tips on it.

Never seen that before.

Our Little Man turned 8 months old yesterday.  His sister turned 28 months old also on the same day.  Looking forward to seeing them both this weekend.

99% sure it's not allergies.............

Still not well.  Still feel as though someone have just run over me with a bus.  I am sleeping a lot and got a tickly cough that won't go away.

I did read people's blog posts yesterday but didn't comment.  I was supposed to go with dh up to son's yesterday and don't feel well enough to go to our daughter's today.  Mind you I also don't want to give Our Little Munchkin this, as touch wood she has been well recently.

She moves up to the toddler room tomorrow, so a big day for her.  It will do her good, as she is getting bored in the baby room.  Here she is watering the "garden!"

Here is Our little man he was 7 months old last week:

Not sure who he looks like, but I do think he will be tall,  He's a smashing little boy.

Here he is with his sister who is 27 months going on 20 years of age!!!

She said to me the other day:

"Nana I pooped in the toilet."

I said, "Well done, Nana also pooped in the toilet today!"

We "talk" to all three grands most days via Face Time.  Mind you both girls have the attention span of a gnat!!!    How great is modern technology?

Yummy birthday present..

Called in to see Our Little Princess and Our Little Man the other day.  They have just come back from India and were away for my birthday.  Now as I am super picky when it comes to food.  Plus I have more scarves that I know what to do with, and I have a couple of handbags that I use all the time, "R" was struggling to find me something in India for me.

She came up with the perfect gift; something I have never had before.  Mango Cornflakes:

They are really good.  The other flavours you can get in India, are Mango, Banana, Strawberry, Honey and plain ones.  Where you live do get different flavoured cornflakes?

 I also got this lovely silk change purse; so pretty and so useful.

Thursday is going to be called this from now on:

"Our Little Munchkin's Quilt Day."  Well at least for the foreseeable future.  If you have been following my blog for the past couple of years, you will know I have a grandchild who was born in November 2013.  Every month on her month old birthday dd took a photo of her.  You can see some here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. 

You can see there was a different fabric used as a background each month.  So dd asked me to make a quilt (twin/single size) for when Our Little Munchkin goes into a big girls bed.

Knowing how fast I sew I figured I had better make a start on it soon.  So my first job was to wash all the fabric.

I knew those stair railings would come in useful for something!!  I then had to iron all that material.

So for the next few Thursday's I am putting everything else aside and sew all these fabrics into a quilt top.  I had got a pattern in mind of what I am going to do, I just need to get it all done!!!  Wish me luck.

Our Little Princess and Our Little Man will be back from India in a week's time, so looking forward to seeing them again.  I bet they have grown.

She's not a baby anymore?

Our little Munchkin is in the baby room in daycare.  The age's of the babies in that room, are from birth to eighteen months.  As most people get a full years maternity leave here in Ontario, they generally start at 12 months old.  There are six babies and two helpers in that room and it's run like a tight ship, very organized and they do a lot of things to help the babies develop.

It seems one of the supervisors has been watching our Munchkin and feels she is ready to move up to the toddler room.  They take children from around 18 months old up to around 2 1/2 years in that room.  Our Munchkin is 15 months old, and will be 16 months old when they move her.  They do it gradually by introducing her to the other children in the room over a three week period.

In the toddler room there are 15 toddlers to three helpers; and of course the fees go down which is good.  I was a bit taken aback when dd mentioned all this as to us our Munchkin is a baby, but the more you think about it, she isn't.  When they were here last week, the little toys we had in our basket didn't hold her interest at all; she has outgrown them. 

I was in the kitchen, so got her to do a couple of little things for me.  She enjoys helping.  The things they do in the toddler room will keep her engaged and developing and stop her from getting bored.  It is a good thing, but a scary thing for her Nana, to think she is no longer a baby.

We were in Wal-Mart on Saturday so went to the toy department to see if there was something to add to our toy box, and we picked up this.  This should keep both our Munchkin and our Little Princess out of mischief.  Should also keep Granddad out of mischief putting it together!

Talking about our Little Princess; they are still in India and will be for another month or more.  Our little Fella turned 5 months old earlier in the month.  We got this photo of him.  It's just the angle of the photo, his legs do not go on for miles!!

We also got this one of both of them:

Out little Princess is as brown as a berry with being out in the sun.  I am missing them both a lot.

Finally another bit of proof that our little Munchkin is getting bigger:

Yep, she was caught trying to escape.  The crib mattress has now been lowered, again!!!  She is her mother's double, as dd was an escape artist at that age also!
