Drooling over fabric...........

I have been drooling over/coveting (definition of coveting: to wish for earnestly)a new line of fabric; the William Morris collection for Moda Fabrics.  Click on this link to view the whole collection.  I still had some Christmas money left, so I splurged on a metre each of # 730023 and 730418.

The colours are so much brighter in real life.  

I then picked up .25 of a metre each of these Tula Pink fabrics for Free Spirit, from the Animal Spirit and Eden collections.  

Now thanks to looking at the Tula Pink site, I am now "coveting" the Bumble collection.

So the total of those 2.5 metres of fabric $55 😮 Not sure what I am making with then yet, but I will think of something.

I then picked up three metres (total) of these gorgeous fabrics called "Guess How Much I love You," by Cloth Works in the flannel.

It's in the pale green colourway, again in real life the colours are so much nicer.  Most of the rabbit print is to cover a nursing pillow, and the rest is to make some baby things.  It is so soft and although expensive, well worth the money.

Then finally I ordered some cork fabric from MM Cork Supply.  Carla a Facebook friend makes the most gorgeous things using this cork fabric, and I have been admiring her work for a long while.  You can see what she makes here.  So I decided to splurge and buy some cork to experiment with.  $70 later for three fat eighth's (13" x 18") and a quarter yard (18" x 26") it is expensive but it looks lovely.  So all in all I spent $200 on Fabric on Monday!!  

Now to get my creative juices flowing!!

Say hello to our new granddaughter......

Paige Elizabeth was born June 15th @ 4:10 pm, weighing at 7 lbs 4 oz.  Both mother and baby doing well.  Big sister more interested in the ice chips her mother got to "eat."  Paige looks exactly Nora did when she was born.

Busy week ahead of us..........

Our daughter will be having her baby girl......finally!!!

Going to spend Tuesday doing a big batch cook for both ourselves and our daughter and family.  She found having meals on hand, just waiting to be heated up after having Our Little Munchkin was the best thing.

Having a wheat free diet seems to be the latest thing out there.  I thought this looked interesting and have signed up.

My pot of knitted hexagons is getting fuller and brighter!

 Haven't seen Our Little Princess and family for a couple of weeks, need to fit in a visit with them sometime.

So what's new?

Well our son and partner got engaged on the weekend in Boston.  He took her to see the Toronto Blue Jays play the Boston Red Soxs at Fenway Park as she is baseball mad.  She said yes and as they already live together it won't be a long engagement, and I think they will be getting married early 2017.  Her ring is gorgeous, a real "bobby dazzler."  If you haven't heard of that term before click on this link for an explanation.  Thankfully our daughter "helped" guide our son in the right direction regarding the right ring, as he likes the "bigger the better look," and our future daughter-in-law has very small hands.  The ring he got is perfect though.

Still waiting to see our new grand daughter; as she is still inside of her mother's tummy.  Dd doctor took ill and so her C-section was postponed until next week; as long as she doesn't go into labour in between hands.  She is now 39 weeks.  Pain in the butt for everyone as everything was planned out.  However as long as mum and baby are okay that's the main thing.  So we should have a baby this next week now.

Due to all that phaffing about didn't get much of anything done this week.......

Little shocked to see my foot this morning:

I curled my toes over for the photo so you weren't exposed to my nasty toe nails!!  It's still quite bruised and it's been a week and a half now.

Finally, you know how you win some, you lose some?  Well this week we got our next property tax bill in the mail.  Seems it has gone down; yes I said DOWN, by $2 a month!!! 

Then we got our year end report from the Condo board and our condo fees have gone up by $40 a month!  Personally that is a bit much and they have forecast that next year (July 2017) it will be up by another $55 a month.  By then it will have gone up $125 a month since we moved in in 2014.  We will have been in the house two years next week.  After that last increase it will then be only going up a couple of percent per year.  They need to get the reserve fund up to a certain point in a certain amount of time as per law.  I am not impressed!

Off now to try and get as many groceries as possible for as little money as possible.......getting to be a harder and harder challenge nowadays though.

Our little Princess

Our little Princess , who weighs 6lb 1 oz and is around 21.7 inches long. 

You can't really see much of her.  She has a lovely head of dark downy hair and super long finger nails.  No idea who she looks like, maybe me...LOL  She more or less slept while we were there.  I called in at Bonnie Togs, never been in that store before and picked up a few pink things for her, plus her first dolly:

Mother doing well, though very tired and sore, as she went from 0cm dilated to 10 cm dilated in an hour and a half and surprised everyone, so no one was ready for the birth.  Suffice to say she had to have stitches poor girl.

I will get more photos next time I see her as she will be dressed in clothes next time, not all swaddled up in that sheet.

Hot Chocolate Recipe

On the weeekend at the cookie exchange party we were served hot chocolate.  I knew it wasn't a packet mix, so I asked "K" for the recipe:

Loco Cocoa1 cup premium unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 to 1/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 cups light cream
4 cups whole milk (I used half whole milk and the rest 1% milk)
1/3 cup bittersweet chocolate pieces or 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
2 teaspoons vanilla

1. In a 3-4 quart slow cooker combine cocoa, sugar and salt. Stir in 1/2 cup hot water until the mixture forms a paste. Whisk in cream and milk.
2. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 5 to 6 hours or on high heat setting for 2 & 1/2 to 3 hours (do not boil). Whisk in bittersweet chocolate, stirring until chocolate is melted.
3. If necessary, skim 'skin' from the surface, discard. Serve immediately or keep warm, covered on warm setting for up to 2 hours.
4. To serve, stir in vanilla. Makes about 12 cups.

Finally a dear girl we know should be having her baby today.  It was due on the 2nd of this month.  Fingers crossed all goes well, for a baby born on 12/12/12.  Oh, and it's not "R" she has another month to go!!
