A weary British Woman.......

I need to have company come to stay more often, as it seems to have kicked my butt into action.  I have been doing some tidying up and cleaning.  I walked up and down three flights of stairs 8 times carrying bundles of magazines on Monday.  So next time the doctor tells me to exercise more I will be swatting him over the head!!!!

Oh by the way I think I have a hoarding problem.  I have Prima magazines from 1984, I just can't part with them.

The horses from yesterday are Belgium's, similar to Shire Horses or Clydesdale's.  Beautiful horses with a lovely temperament.  They are quite old and one isn't too well, and they belong to the farmer across the way.  He bought the miniature horse for his grand daughters.

Here is another photo of Molly waiting to be let back into the house.  She wasn't happy with me on Monday morning, as I bathed her, she really hates it, but it helps her skin and she wasn't scratching as much on Monday after her bath.  That's waste wood in the bag by the door.

Molly fast asleep on her ottoman, with the glorious view behind her.  It set out as a miserable day on Monday but by lunch time the sun got out and it faired up.

My attempt at an artistic shot!!

Now I feel better about not being able to part with my 1992 Prima Christmas edition!

I can identify with your first paragraph - we had BIL & SIL for a meal on saturday [first time they have been over for more than a year] and we went into Royal Visit mode.
Downstairs is now FABULOUSLY tidy. I do declare all the stair climbing has firmed my thighs.
BUT cannot get to my side of bed for the boxes of clutter carried up to be hidden from relations [and now needing to be dealt with]

Having then spent sunday with MY bro in his new place, I think I need to move house if I am going to really declutter. Last move, I ripped up all my Primas to wrap round crockery ffor packing, only keeping those few articles that I might use. that was in 1995. I still havent really used any of them!

SO glad your washing machine works, now you can time your wash for overnight and take advantage of the cheap(er) hydro.

I doubt Molly was too angry with you, especially if she felt better after. I have the same magazine problem as you do. I recycled a bunch a while back -- well, more than a bunch -- of cross stitch mags (British ones, as well) and regretted it the moment I did it. Now I just move them all over the house trying to find a spot. I think I threw the ones away that I actually bought in England -- not bright but I won't do it again, that is for sure. I don't think that qualifies us as hoarders, though.

What a happy dog Molly is! She has a nice place to sleep.

My dad hordes magazines like that too, so you are not alone!

I think your artistic shot turned out very nicely!

I seldom purchase a magazine. I get them from the library now so don't have to store them. One magazine I would keep though if I bought it is Victorian. Love seeing the pictures of Molly. Hugs

Definitely nothing like visitors to motivate you!!
Have cured my magazine fetish by proclaiming that reading blogs are just like flipping through a hundred zillion magazines for free!

Lovely pictures of Molly and I had to laugh at your comments about the magazines. I hate to throw them out too. I always think that if I do, there will be one gorgeous knitting pattern or recipe that I can't live without and now it's gone. Mine don't go that far back and I do give some away, but I have a few year's worth of Peoples Friend, which I love the best.

We must have visitors too often. The oldest magazines that I have are from three years ago.

Im glad Molly was better after her bath. Yes going up and down stair would be a work out. but then again so would be hitting the doc, so just remind him/her of that!

I too get motivated to clean and tidy up when I know visitors are coming.
I have a good clear out of magazines every once in awhile, (they are not as old as yours) lol, ripping out articles that I think I would need, (but never do use them) eventually they get thrown out. The mags that are intact I donate to waiting rooms at the hospital etc.
Molly loods quite comfortable in your artistic shot.

Much more then mags hoarded here, remember I have a whole personal collection of "spiders" and "goodness knows what" in the basement. All I can say is "thank goodness for doors that shut on rooms which hold in the "mess" from other eyes at times ...

Housework is definitely exercise! I have no idea what a Prima magazine is, will have to look that up!

I'm not familiar with Prima -- but if it's anything like Good Housekeeping, I totally understand.

I hope the bath helps Molly with her itching. I love the photo you took of her sleeping in the sun. :)

I sure feel for Molly...dogs are such faithful companions.
I had never heard of Prima magazines...but I very seldom look at the magazines any more.
