Over here in Canada and I know in Britain, we celebrate Remembrance Day on November 11th. Between now and then veterans sell Poppies that we pin onto our lapels. On Saturday dh and I went into town and called into Tim Hortons for a coffee and donut. Standing just after the speaker in the drive through was a veteran selling his poppies. He was doing a roaring trade and I thought he was very ingenious; as that drive through is very busy and basically he had a captive audience!!!
I spent part of Saturday outside doing some tidying up. I noticed our neighbour out back was also busy. He is busy planting another "forest!!" He planted the one on the right last year, and is putting the one on the left now.
No idea where he is getting all the trees from. He has all the correct equipment to dig the holes and plant the trees....
Our company arrives today, so I will probably not be visiting many blogs over the next three weeks, but will try and post every day. Oh and only 6 more sleeps to the wedding day.......
I am a British born, living in Canada since May of 1989. My blog is about all aspects of my daily life.

We celebrate Remembrance Day here in Australia on November 11. We also celebrate ANZAC Day on April 25th to commemorate the ill-fated Gallipoli campaign of 1915.
Hugs, Kaye xoxox
I've bought my poppy but I don't wear it until after Halloween. I may be wrong but I seem to remember that over here poppy sellers on the street have been banned. We can only buy them from shop counters.
Good on your neighbour for planting a forest. I've heard there's a tree shortage in Canada :D xx
enjoy your time with the visitors cant wait to see all the photos of the wedding
I can't wait to see wedding photos! Have a wonderful time! We celebrate Nov 11 as well but call it Veteran's Day. We don't have poppies though.
Have a great time with your visitors. It's going to be a busy three weeks for you, enjoy.
Look forward to see the wedding photos.
Patricia
I like what your neighbor is doing... looks very natural.
Have fun at the wedding -- will look forward to seeing some photos. :)
My dad was secretary of the local branch of the Royal British Legion until his death, so was very involved with the Poppy Appeal. He used to drop the poppies and collecting tins off at the local schools, and also took his turn at selling them.In the November before his death he and Mum attended the Festival of Remembrance service at the Royal Albert Hall in London. He was so proud to have been invited.
Looking forward to seeing the photos of the wedding - have a wonderful time. x
Wow the trees are beautiful.
I will be wearing my poppy this week.
Enjoy the wedding.
Have a wonderful time at the wedding. I love where you live!
My Grandpa was a veteran and we always bought those poppies.
Does your neighbor plan to harvest and sell the trees he is planting?
Looking forward to eventually seeing some wedding pics. :)
Enjoy your company!
AH! Such an exciting time for you and your family! I hope everything runs smoothly...but if it doesn't, remember that glitches are the stuff of memories and family chatter for years to come. :))
Have fun with the visiting...the big day will be here before you know it!
