Monday and we are talking about all sorts...

I should mention something from yesterday's post.  Although we put tar paper on the walls in the "new" basement, we don't actually have any damp in there.  Even in the old basement that is dry.  We are lucky as a lot of old basements in older homes can be damp.  We did have a bit of dry rot in the old basement, but that was taken care of in the spring.

Sunday was the start of Advent at church.  I enjoyed the service, though one of the hymns just went, on and on and on!!!!  I am looking forward to the next few services.   Also found out when the Christmas Eve services are.  We have three churches in our parish, so one is at 4pm, the other at 7pm and the one at the church I attend is at 9pm.  Looking forward to attending that also.

On Sunday morning we had a lovely sunrise, and I took some photos.

Accross the road is a cell phone tower, I think it may be a Rogers one.  Anyhow the sun was shining off the tower and it lookes as though it was lit up:
I think I will keep the other two for Skywatch Thursday as they are really nice.

I also put up my Fibre Optic tree.  Have to say I love  the simplicity of that tree.  Pull it out of the box, connect the parts and switch on.......couldn't be easier!!  I am hoping to get our main tree up this week..............now that takes a heck of a lot longer to put up!!

The plant left of the tree is an orchid.  I see I have a couple of buds on there so I am expecting flowers from it in the Spring.  It was flowering when I got it for my birthday this year, see this post.  The santa's each side of the tree are these ones.

As you can also see by the last photo we don't have much in the way of snow and we are forecast for rain on Tuesday, so it will be all gone that day.........

Also on Sunday I was doing a bit of sewing, I should be finished by mid week, so will show you the photos then.  Hoping for a quiet week again this week.

I think I mentioned tar paper and damp. You use it not 'cos you've got damp but after you occupy the basement there is a gap between the new wall and the old wall that can 'sweat' and you use tar paper to stop the new wall from absorbing the 'sweating'. Don't know if I like a telecom tower that close (out of visual range is preferred, for me). Your tree looks nice. Rhonda and I discussed cecorations today but she's busy painting the bathroom, toilet, laundry and alcove at present. We agreed on two lots od 'decs' - one set here and another at 'The Camp'!

I resorted to a fibre optic tree when the task of tree decoration got too much for me. I also have an orchid (love them) which has flowered twice yearly and is now growing another shoot with a bud at the end ... sideways. I hope I can train it to go upwards...grins.

I'm just not ready for the Christmas bit just yet!!!! How do you do it? The tree is pretty. I like simplicity, too. I put up the tree, ComputerSon and I put on the lights, and we hand the decorating to the OrganizerSon. That's pretty simple. ~Liz

We've gone really simple for Christmas. A tree, a few snowmen and that's it. I didn't realize you use tar paper. Interesting. Hugs

I like that little tree. Very festive. I can't believe we're into Advent already...but we are. :)

Your little tree looks pretty sitting in the middle of your Santa's.

The front header with those biscuits makes me want to jump right into the screen with a dish of butter. The lemon meringue pie in the background look like it might be to die for.

Hi Gill,
Have you read the Stillmeadow books by Gladys Taber? They are about country living. I am waiting for a few of them to come in the mail because I have not read them but I love reading about life in the country.

Tuesday was a mixed bag type of day. Had the appliance repair guy come again to install another circuit board in the fridge.  When hubby got...
