Happy New Year to you all...............

I have had a busy few days getting the house back to normal and doing some baking.  I am taking part in the Pantry Challenge as I mentioned in this post.  I have already started planning for that challenge and have got some ideas of what I will be doing.

I had a lot of banana's in the freezer, so I decided to make some pineapple banana loaves and muffins.  Any banana's that are over ripe I just stick in the freezer as is, and when I need them I just pull them out of the freezer, and let them defrost and they are ready to use.

I also had three packages of shredded zucchini in the freezer as well, so I thought I'd make some zucchini carrot muffins I enjoy having these for breakfast and they make a change from cereal.

I then decided to try a new recipe with some Pillsbury Crescent Rolls I had in the fridge. I made a Quiche using them, using this recipe.  If you hate making pastry this is so simple.

I then decided to have a go at making bread rolls. Now granted the breadmaker made the dough, but I shaped the rolls and placed them in the oven. They were as good as they looked.

I cleaned out my coupon folder also this week, getting rid of all the 2009 coupons.  I transfered all my important dates, birthday's, anniversaries etc., onto my 2010 calendar.  I will say I haven't written down my "plan of action," for 2010 yet, I have been procrastinating on that one, maybe New Year's Day will be the day to do that as dh has the day off, so we can talk about it together.

So as today is the first day of January this would be your first day of putting money in your pot for the Daily Savings club, did you remember to do that?

I am also going to feature a savings tip everyday at the end of each post.  Hopefully you will find some of them useful!!!

Master the thirty day rule. Whenever you’re considering making an unnecessary purchase, wait thirty days and then ask yourself if you still want that item. Quite often, you’ll find that the urge to buy has passed and you’ll have saved yourself some money by simply waiting. If you want, you can even keep a “thirty day list” where you write down the item and the day you’ll reconsider it.

I didn't know you could put bananas in the freezer either, that will be useful.
Happy New Year, now that it is 2010 here!

How long do you dinner rolls last? Do you freeze any? What about the muffins? Freeze them or just leave out.

They all look good and I have a tons of frozen bananas to use up - I usually make chocolate chip banana muffins then freeze and use for kiddo's lunches.

That is a wonderful display of baked goods Gill. I'm making Cornish Pasties today with our left-over roast beef. I always make enough dough to fill three or four pie plates and put individual portions in the freezer for another time. Decided to make the pasties for dinner.

Happy New Year, Gill! Thank you for sharing your recipe for the Zucchini Carrot Muffins. I have a ton of each in the freezer, and since I'm participating in the Eat From Your Pantry Challenge, this is a great opportunity to give it a try!

Happy New Year Gill (and friends)! Your baking looks wonderful. I've jotted down the Pineapple Banana Loaf recipe and taken bananas out of the freezer to thaw, to try the recipe out myself. Wishing you all good things for 2010!

Ooh Gill, I've just had a muffin still warm from the oven and the Pineapple Banana recipe is lovely. It made up 2 dozen muffins that I will share with my family. Thank you for that recipe. It's a keeper!

Just stopping by to say Happy New Year, Gill. Looks like you have been BUSY. The muffins (all of them) and the bread sound wonderful. I know that very ripe bananas make the BEST muffins.

We put up our new calendars today --but didn't have to write in birthdays, etc. --since our computer calendar keeps all of that stuff for us and changes it all automatically.

Hope 2010 is good to you and I hope that you have lots of good health and happiness.
Hugs,
Betsy

Happy new year to you. And many thanks for your "savings pot" tip. I put $1 a day into a fancy savings box this year after reading your tip. And then I was made redundant from my job in March but I persisted with the $1 per day. So thanks to you I have just had a week's holiday in our capital city Wellington and my $1 a day was my spending money. BUT I brought home around $350 of it so that will go quick smart into my savings account and I'm starting the $1 a day again this year. Many many thanks and I do hope that 2010 is a wonderful year for you. I look forward to my daily read of your wonderful blog.

Gill can you come and bake for me? Seriously, are you June Cleaver/Martha Stewart in disguise?

I made the quiche recipe for brunch yesterday. Everyone loved it including my 2 picky boys who don't like to eat eggs. I'll add it to my regular rotation of favourites!
