Did you vote?

Today it's election day here in Canada.  I am a great believer in voting when you are allowed too.

As always though, there are years when you just shake your head at the candidates and this year is one of them.  HOWEVER, if you don't vote you can't complain about who gets voted in, if it's not too your liking..............

This year is a bit different for me, as I really like one of the leaders, but can't stand the party he's leader of.  It looks like it will be a close run here, so it will be interesting to see how it all pans out.  I WILL NOT be sitting up to see who wins.  We class ourselves as middle class, so we never get anything regardless of who is in power!

Do you always vote when there is a general election in your country?

You bet I voted! We voted early, last week. Fingers crossed we end up with someone who doesn't forget where they started! Someone honest, hardworking, and not an embarrassment! (I live in BC)

Well, it was a hold your nose and pick the least offensive candidate in my riding.

I hope somebody gets their deposit back.

Our province doesn't count because we have so few seats. Ontario and Quebec decides for us.

I'm dreading an election here in the UK. Can't stand either of the main party leaders but like you I always vote. They've both been such a shambles the last 3 & a half years & still haven't got our exit from the EU sorted out. Got no faith in any of them.

Definitely vote! I voted in the advance poll last week but I happened to be in the voting station today and it seemed like there was a steady stream of people going in and out. I think the turnout will be higher than usual. In Australia it is illegal NOT to vote but they make a fun day of it with fun fairs, barbecues etc. The fine for not voting is just $75 - not a great incentive if you really can't be bothered.

I have voted in every election since I became old enough to vote.

I won't be staying up here either. Harvey might but not me.

God bless.

Sure did. I would feel really guilty if I didn't. My father taught us that it was very important, even if we didn't like the candidates. I have voted for a goofy party in protest in the past though. We should have a "none of the above" box so folks who can't deal with the parties can at least be heard.
