Old blog posts and gardening.

Dear Rose is reading through my old posts and commenting on some.  Which is a great thing for me, as I too then read the old posts as well.  I have also been in touch with bloggers that I haven't talked to in a long while.  Life goes on and we all end up with different priorities and sometimes blogs get left behind.

The gardeners finally cut the grass on Friday for the first time this year.  The sprinklers have not been turned on yet, and we haven't had much rain so the poor grass looks miserable to say the least.  I did talk to the gardeners; made sure I only talked to the one with a shirt with a collar on!!  He said lack of rain was the problem, so sent an email to the property management, who in turn sent an email to the irrigation (sprinkler) lot, as yet have no idea what's going on?

We are going to put a proposal in to the board to see if we can put a 2 foot privacy screen on the top of our deck to give us some privacy.  As everyone walking down the road looks directly into our deck.

It will go along both the side and the back of the deck (right hand side of photo.)

In this photo you can see a flower bed with a tree and shrubs in it, the left hand side of the photo:
This is a closer view:
That is all the builder put in?  What about the front?  Anything small and green are weeds.  The kids doing the gardens use a hoe and cut the tops off and that's it.  I need to dig them out myself.  With the aggravation we have had about another issue I feel about as much like planting extra plants as flying to the moon!!  Hopefully I'll get out of my strop and beautify the place up soon.

All garden maintenance is part of our monthly condo fees.

I would be with you on the privacy screen as it all looks far too open and exposed for my liking - I'm imagining eating out there and having all the neighbourhood watching me! Hope they agree to something more private xx

How very annoying. Maybe send them a letter register it and tell them you will be sending them a bill for a any plants you have to buy. Maybe then they will get their act together

Nothing like a privacy screen! I hope it works out for you.

I guess they thought the piddly plantings would be enough of a screen (in about ten years time!)

Having trouble with my computer today so I don't know if my original comment got thru. We cut our lawn over the weekend but not much to cut. Very dry here too. Hope you get your approval for your screen.

I do hope those in charge agree to a privacy screen!

Yes, a privacy screen is required I think. Otherwise your neighbours will be able to see you sipping a refreshing rose on a summer evening. Such guzzling needs to be private! You're right about weeding. It's an ugly chore which needs to be done yourself, on your hands and knees. I know because I spent half the weekend doing just that!

That has got to be very annoying when you are paying condo fees and they aren't doing much to show what you are paying for.

Oh, how I would hate having to get permission...but afraid to trust the saying easier to ask for forgiveness than to get permission...afraid you would receive a fine, etc.

I would not like sitting there at all without a privacy fence.

I'm with you on wanting more privacy than that. It's good to ask permission instead of incurring a fine for just going ahead and doing it. And the little bit of exra energy it would take to pull the plants would be made up in not having to hoe each week.
Blessings,
Betsy

I don't think I would ever be able to buckle down to the rules and regulations of condo life. I hope to be able to stay in my home for the rest of my days.

That's a tricky one, isn't it?
I'm not the friendliest of people, and love my physical privacy. You don't want strangers staring, do you, though?
Good luck with all this!!!!

Good photos. Strange that they didn't put a decent fence up or even a wall when it's the main street & your back garden.

Keep up the pressure!

I can definitely see the need for a privacy screen.

At my condo, the landscapers mow the grass and trim the trees, but the owners are responsible for maintaining the gardens that they plant themselves (with permission of the board, of course!), as well as watering the lawn.

Hope your privacy screen is approved quickly with minimal hassle!
