A really bad day

I had a bad day on Wednesday.  The wind was howling all day and despite the thermometer saying it was warmer it felt a heck of a lot colder too me.  The snow drifts across the driveway was just too much for me to handle.  I have had to call the post office to ask them to hold the mail as it's nigh on impossible to get close to the mail box now due to the snow plow dumping all the snow and the actual snow drifts.

To say I am totally fed up with this weather is putting it mildly.  I am getting close to the breaking point.  I very nearly sat down in the middle of the driveway and had a cry.  I went inside instead and sulked and felt sorry for myself, as I hadn't put my snow pants on, so I would have got a wet butt sitting in the snow in my jogging pants.

Dh did manage to get the rest of the driveway cleaned out and he ran me into town to get the mail, so felt a bit better after all that.  I am also getting cabin fever as well.

Off to see Miss Nora today (as long as I can get out of the driveway) so that will brighten my day today.

So sorry your having such a bad winter.....it has been rough for a lot of people this year.....
Only once did I have a winter that just did me in...we had 18 major snow storms...I was driving 1 1/2 hours to work and because of the snow I had multiple hours long commutes.......at the time I was driving a tiny little car...3cylinder ...like a bicycle !!!!!
I'm sure that beautiful baby must have helped....such a little dumpling!!!!!
Spring is on its way.....I'm seeing signs!!!

She is sweet! I remember once getting the car stuck in a snowdrift and getting out and yelling, swearing and crying. The neighbours must have wondered!

Oh my goodness, what a lovely baby, that should go some way to making you feel a bit better.
I know how you feel, still rain here with a threat of a storm and high winds. It's 11 oclock in the morning and I don't feel as though I'm awake yet, horrible.
Hope you can get out and enjoy seeing your lovely baby.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard go of it, Gill. Won't you be happy when you're settled in a new home!

The other day when the tractor cut out for the umpteenth time I got out and kicked it while yelling and screaming. Our driveway entrance is choked from the $@*&@# snowplow driver pushing the snow into it.The snow is over the mailbox and I'm worn out!

Do you have heat in your house? Is your roof leaking? Are your windows frozen? Have your water pipes broke due to the extreme cold? Did your car start up today? Have a dead battery, flat tires or worse yet, just a dead car? Can you prepare food in your kitchen? Do you even have a kitchen? Can you prepare and eat hot foods? Do you have food? Do you have money to buy the food or do you have to wait on a line outside in the cold? Do you have clothes that are warm? Are you ill? Do you have the flu or worse yet, pneumonia? Anyone in your family sick, ill facing death? Anyone in your family living on the streets, unemployed or starving to death?
So, let me get this straight: you're just upset cause it's cold out? Well, la de dah. La de dah.
Count your blessings and keep quiet.

She's adorable!

It seems Canada is in the grip of a VERY bad winter. I completely understand your frustration. I got like that after a week of it here a few years ago but you've had it for much longer than that! Keep your pecker up....

Seeing her would have done you good.

My dad was always annoyed by how plows would just bury the mailbox as they passed by. When he got to the point when he had someone come in with their own plow instead of his snowblower, the driver made a point of plowing in front of the two driveway entrances to make sure the road plow wouldn't bury the driveway entrances with extra snow.

It can be hard coping with extremes of weather and I tend to think we cope less as we get older. Not saying you're getting old - you know what I mean lol
We have more hot days forecast and I'm not looking forward to them at all which is very unusual for me. But I'd rather have our summers than your winters. They certainly don't look (or sound) like fun at all.
I hope you managed to get out to see little Nora - one smile from a baby seems to brighten a day doesn't it

Babies have a way of cheering us up. Sounds like you have more snow than you need. Thinking of you!

I think Simcoe county is having a bit of a warm snap soon. I feel your pain I have been taking the Go train from Barrie to toronto for a few weeks lately for work. A few days at 5;30 am it has been -20. I have wanted to cry too :)

Hope you feel better, sometimes chocolate and wine help and not necessarily in that order lol

I was finally able to get out yesterday and did some shopping at Value Village. Today I visited my m-i-l who is now housebound due to a broken hip. I was counting my blessings let me tell you. After I got back we found the snow shoes and had our first trip through the bush. It was REALLY tough going and I'm tired as all get out, but so glad it finally happened. The snowbanks on my side of the road are higher than I am tall now. I'm thankful that we have a really BIG tractor with a plow and a blower on it so our driveway and mailbox are always clear.
Don't pay that Anony. person any mind. We are entitled to feel grumpy and grouchy and depressed if we want too........it's part of being a rural Canadian too!
Hope baby girl cheered you up!
I'm worried about my baby sister. This weather is really getting to her too. She spends far too much time in bed in the middle of the day.

Oh, Gill you and I are in the same boat. Here in Manitoba, we had three blizzards and three days with heavy blowing snow. In Winnipeg they showed a picture in the paper today where the snow was 4 meters high. One thing I notice is that we are having March weather here in January. Does this mean???? Probably not. Nora is such a gorgeous little gal, just as her cousin is. Soon the gardening show will be on.

I hate that it is getting to you so bad....if we weren't getting a regular dose of sun, I would be joining you in a cry...but we are getting enough sun to keep me sane.

It is just too bad we don't live closer to our granddaughters...we could get our fix more often and maybe deal with this weather better.

We are the same here, & people North of the Checkerbboard much worse. Nora is a brighteyed sweetheart. Em says, "keep your pecker up?" really can't be doing that when it is buried in snow now can we *smile*
