Couple of things I did to save money this week.

My liquid soap in the powder room was half empty so I filled it up with water and shook it all up.  Granted the soap is a bit watery but it works just the same.

Did some baking yesterday.  Did it when the hydro was on the medium rate and put some potatoes into bake while baking other things and used up some things in my fridge and pantry.

Called Bell AGAIN, as their fees are going up by $6 a month {SIGH}  After talking with dh we decided to cancel his Sports Net World channel that we pay $18 or there abouts a month for.  After being on the phone for half an hour, the very helpful guy had miraculously been able to reducur fees by $18 a month.  So not only does dh able to keep his Sports Channel, but our bill will come in at around $121 a month, as I am paying $30 for the phone and $76.50 for the TV each month.

Also must say this guy was very, very helpful and even agreed with me when he tried to sell me Internet services that I was wise to stick with our current provider as their stick can get very expensive.  We currently pay just under $170 every three months for our high speed Internet and that includes the 13% taxes.

I saved electricity on shredding all the paperwork from the bill drawer that I cleaned out yesterday by burning it on the fire.  It also saved my back and head by not having to lean over the shredder and listen to it droaning on while I shredded a years worth of paid bills!!!

Now none of this seems like a lot buy everything does add up over a while......

Great savings Gill. They can always reduce your bill if you aren't happy they just don't tell you unless you ask :( . We have a burn barrel outside which we burn stuff in year round.

Well done! I'm trying hard not to switch the heating on when it's just me in the house during the day. Have my extra cardi on as I type! I sould really get up from the keyboard and do some vigorous housework to warm me up!!

Hate is a strong word. But I HATE Bell!! They are the biggest rip of artist in Canada. ALWAYS watch your bills with them. They put on add ons and claim they are essential to your service. In the country that is the only provider. I wish it weren't.

My Mom says "every little bit helps" being born during WWII and oldest of seven kids, she is right. This week I made myself go to 10% tuesday at Safeway and only bought things on the list made from the flyer that were rock bottom. Our cable/telephone/internet is about to go up as six months of reduced is expiring. Time to shop around.

Nice work! M started a fire just the other day in our wood stove, & I was thinking how nice it was. We should try that again to keep heating costs down, & with your idea, I can throw my shredding in as well!

Gill,
Way to go with Bell! We use them as they are the only provider in this country area. Great job on your savings for the week.
Glad Hubby doesn't have to part with his sports channel!!!

I wash all my clothes at 30 degrees. They get washed perfectly at this temp - but I wonder does it save any money?!

Great job on getting your bill reduced. We called our cell phone company and our Internet provider and got a $25 discount today too.

Yeah it pays to ring and make enquiries. Glad hubby gets to keep the sports channel we deserve something to keep us motivated. And you are very right its the small savings that add up into big ones.

I have to agree that cable/Internet/phone bills seem to be going up by the day... its completely ridiculous. I feel ripped off! I know Virgin in England is just as bad! My Cockney pays nearly £100 a month!!

We have ROGERS for our bundling services and I am at the END of my wits with them... I have to call them EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. because they are forever messing up my bill.... and changing my services WITHOUT my consent. Then when I call them on it they say sorry for their mistake but can't do anything about it for 30 days! HUH!? I think no matter who you go with, you're going to get the shaft. lol!!

I also hate Bell and you do have to watch them as they will sneak up fees, they are the only provider in the country and we are in a no cable zone. we go with internet through our local telephone (Bell aliant) expensive too but there are few options around

Good for you for having the patience to deal with Bell over the phone!

It is amazing how pennies do add up. A dollar here and dollar there...
