More about Christmas...

I ordered some items online this week for Christmas.  The item I ordered from Amazon on Tuesday was here on Thursday, great service and I never left the house!  Bit sad when the UPS guy arrived with the package, as he had dog biscuits at the ready to give to Molly..........had to explain to him about Molly's passing.

I am finding that I am buying more and more things online nowadays.  The older I get the more I dislike trailing around stores fighting the crowds.  Plus when you can often get free shipping why waste my gas/petrol?  I will admit though the item I ordered this week from Amazon I did have to pay nearly $15 in shipping as it came from an affiliate store, but out of the $70 + this present cost it only cost me $20+ as I used my Amazon gift cards I got through Swagbucks.

I can't tell you what I ordered as it's for our son for Christmas and although he doesn't read my blog, it still might get back to him what I bought.  I have my eye on some more things from Amazon, so as soon as November arrives I will cash in Swagbucks for more Amazon gift cards and will be able to order another $25 worth of product for $0 out of pocket.

The one thing I won't be able to do is cash in big time at Shopper's Drug Mart, as I haven't been shopping there much, so have under 50,000 points :(

I need to do an inventory of what I have for Christmas and lay it all out on the spare bed to see what I have got for whom.  One thing I have ordered is a magazine subscription for Money Sense for son-in-law, has asked for it.  I enjoy giving magazine subscriptions, as it's a year round gift.

I also buy the kids a $10 gift pack of scratch and win lottery tickets that come out every year.  They enjoy sitting and scratching them on Christmas morning, and the year dd and son-in-law got engaged, ds won $1,000.

What's these in amongst the flowers and weeds????
They are the packing peanuts from ds Christmas gift.  There was a note inside the box saying that they dissolve in water.  So as we are going to have rain for the next few days, I thought we would see if what they say is true!!

I have shopped less at SDM too this year. I only have 8000 pts, found them kind of expensive or maybe these are just leaner times. Thank goodness for swagbucks my twin!

I must know ... What is a swag buck? And I completely agree with you about the ordering online, not only do you save money but you save precious time, and when you have kids to take with you, it's so much easier to order, my sons have never liked shopping! It's awesome you are getting going so early, I actually got my stamps bought for my Christmas cards today. Too bad only a few people do Christmas card swaps though!
Have a great weekend Gill!

I hope you tell us whether the peanuts really do dissolve. ;-)

Good for you for getting such an early start on Christmas!

Since I haven't been shopping much this year except for groceries, all of my points cards have a really low balance! I am looking forward to Christmas shopping.

Hate the Christmas shopping frenzy and try to buy as much as I can on line.
Am interested to know if the peanuts dissolve. Bet it takes more than one rainfall! xx

I love Amazon for this reason and like you, I don't like to shop. Gives me a headache.

I have very few presents to buy these days , which is fab, and I've made my list and know who's getting what. Very little shopping will be necessary, as a lot of the things will be handmade. I've just bought tickets for Mum and I to go and see the 'Christmas Festival' at the theatre venue in town - brass bands, choirs etc which I know she'll really enjoy - that's part of her birthday gift for next month, and the show is in December. I checked with her when it was first advertised- at her age she doesn't really want 'stuff' so I thought an experience would be a better gift. I've made her a patchwork apron aswell as she really appreciates handmade/homemade gifts.I like your idea of magazine subscriptions - I think that might be a good idea for my son-in-law.

I don't shop online as what I usually want to buy is either from a thrift store or grocery store. Christmas gifts are usually money or gift cards, noone wants "knickknacks" or clothes or kitchen stuff or tools etc. I will have to look into swagbucks though!

Oh, Gill! I do hope those peanuts dissolve! Heehee! At quick glance without my glasses on and with only a half cup of coffee in me, it looked like snow. Then, 'No, those look like packing peanuts.' Heehee! Sure hope the wind doesn't blow if they don't dissolve. Oy!

I love the fact that you are testing those peanuts!

Ha, Ha!

I must get organised about Christmas now.

Ordering on line is a blessing. I only like 'shopping' in thrift stores now.

I shop online a lot too. Love the convenience and over the last couple years I scored a few steals way better than in a store without leaving our house!

Those packing things are made out of rice so it will be interesting to see if they melt. They used to be made from polystyrene so now they're more friendly for enviroment.
I love Christmas but dont want to make to many plans this year till we see where Petal is 'at' tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for us? Maa
