Baby quilt, and my car..........

Finally got the quilt finished other than the label.  Will add that after the baby is born.

Pleased with how it turned out though after looking at the photo, I could have spread out the fabrics a bit more evenly?  Even dh wants a quilt backed with minkie fabric!!

As most of you know I am not car savvy.  I put gas/petrol in my car and occasionally put window washer fluid in when I remember.  That is it.  So imagine my surprise when a light flashed up on my dash board.  Pulled my book out and it was the tire pressure sensor telling me my tire(s) has low pressure.  I had only just had the oil changed last week and thought they had checked the tire pressure.

So I trundle back to the garage and they check out the tires.  Each one was a different pressure ranging from 25 to 29 whatever's (no idea the term).  So they check the one with 25 whatever's to make sure it didn't have a nail in it.  It didn't and he blew up each tire so they have 32 whatever's in them now.

My tires are filled with nitrogen, no idea why, but the garage did say I could top the tires up with regular air if I had to.  They obviously didn't check my tires last time, so I must make an effort to ask them when ever I am in the garage to make sure I have equal "whatever's" in each tire as the bloody sensor will no doubt come on.

I was telling them that having a car with a computer in it and lots of sensors is a pain in the butt, for people like me who know nothing about cars and have a panic attack every time a bloody light comes on.

Oh well onwards and upwards as they say!

Your quilt is absolutely beautiful, that will be one lucky baby! I am the same with my car and so I tend to trust my hubby and garage to get on with whatever needs doing! xxx

Love the quilt it is whimsical with the colours random.
I am not liking computers in vehicles lately my heater fan quit again some computer glitch. I wonder what this is going to cost me. B

The quilt is lovely,Gill.
Tire pressure is measured in PSI (pounds per square inch)...nitrogen makes the tire heavier giving a better road grip.
Bet you never thought I would know that!!!

Gill,
Love the baby quilt, you did a great job.
Cars and the dealerships, not a pleasant time for anyone. Glad you are all topped up to the right pressure, you may see a improvement in your gas mileage.

I just got a new to me car and panicked when I saw a gas pump sign, i thought the cap was loose so kept tightening it, come to find out it meant I was low on gas!

Was the minky hard to work with...it is sooooo soft and feels so good...I should make Lorelei something with it.

I know how you feel about the lights flashing on...but then be glad that you didn't get out in the boonies and discover that your tire had gone all the way flat. Our tire sensor thing even senses when the spare is low...and glad someone answered about the nitrogen cause I had never heard of it and had no idea why.

I have never heard of tyres having nitrogen in them, especially here in Australia. We operate a service garage so will ask our mechanics if they have heard of it.
Lovely job of the quilt too, Gill!

Cheers - Joolz

Sorry to hear what happened to your car. I think the term that you are looking for is pounds per square inch (PSI). The reason why nitrogen is used to fill up tires is because it offers a lot more benefits than just pure oxygen. For example, nitrogen is less likely to escape through rubber as compared to oxygen, and that means tire pressure will be able to remain stable over a long time. Well, I hope you found that useful somehow! Also, make it a point to do a systems check of your car every once in a while to avoid problems like that .
