Any ideas what these are?

They seem to be the bug of choice around here at the moment.  Normally its Asian Beetles and Cluster Flies I am complaining about but this year it's these.  The only blessing is that they are outside and not in the house.  It's been a very quiet Fall for cluster flies and I'm touching wood  (my head) when I say this; I haven't seen any Asian Beetles at all.  Dare I hope all the work we have done in the house is starting to pay off?

I have had a busy couple of days both inside and outside of the house.  Missing Molly like heck, but the pain is getting easier to handle.

I posted a couple more book review's, here and here.

These look very similar to a bug we have in Australia and we call it a soldier beetle. I looked on-line but couldn't find a picture of it exactly like yours. They do swarm in clusters at certain times like yours are.

Oh goodness I don't know what they are but they are sure ugly. I am interested to know if you find out what they are if you do!

They are Pentatomidae, Greek pente meaning five and tomos meaning section, a family of insects belonging to order Hemiptera including some of the stink bugs and shield bugs

I had a couple of these outside, but only a couple, not a whole army as you seem to have, Gill. John D. recognized them as being "Stink" bugs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentatomidae
I am in contact with a couple of Animal Rescues, so please let me know if you decide you are ready for another Forever Friend anytime, Gill.

Probably some kind of shield/stink bug. See this link

There are many different coloured ones but the shape looks right for them.

Box Elder Bugs -- ugh! They are harmless but annoying and all over down here -- Haven't seen any Asian Lady Beetles yet this year either -- maybe the drought slowed them down!

They appear to look like the 'stink bugs' that we have been inundated with this Fall. They claim to be harmless and do not bite, just ugly looking. Here in MA....Bess

Ew. I hate bugs, I have seen those before but I have no clue what they are, they must be hardy little suckers as I'm sure I've seen them in Texas as well... I had some scorpions around not long ago, bugs and I just don't get along!! I hope you have a great rest of the week xx
