Toilet paper and a glorious sunset.......

When we were at the Women's Show on the weekend, one of the booth's was for a company called Cascades.  They sell toilet paper and other paper products that are made from recycled fibres.  The guy asked if I used their toilet paper and I said no as it wasn't soft enough for my delicate backside!!!

There is one thing I will not skimp on and that is toilet paper.  I am a 3 ply girl; okay I will use 2 ply if I have too, but I refuse to buy the 1 ply stuff  or the recycled stuff, as its "rough" on my skin!!  My favourite brand is Royale, but will buy Cottenelle or Charmin if I have some good coupons.

We don't have coloured toilet paper like they do in Britain, not that I was really keen on it.   At least I don't have to use Izal Toilet Paper.  Dh's mother only used that brand, read about it here.  Are you picky about what toilet paper you use?

Thursday was another glorious day around here, I could get used to this weather!!!

Of course the sunset was spectacular as well, so I thought I would share some photos with you.......

Hello Gill
Oh dear that brought back memories - San Izal toilet paper. Its the only one my mother would buy and it was HORRIBLE. Shiny on one side rough on the other - didn't wipe clean just smeared. I'm definitley a 'soft' girl lol
I loved the bird feeder/sky photos - as they say - great captures
Hope you are feeling much better now
Take care
Cathy

Nothing but a good, soft, 3 ply for my bum! Gone are my days of using torn up sheets of the local daily, hanging on a nail, in the 'long drop'! LOL!

Ha, ha, I grew up with the woodchip-kind of paper. Even today I can't stand the stuff that is so fluffy that it covers your bathroom in paperdust every time you tear a piece of the roll. I "have been hardened" in my youth, you could say!

I remember Izal - my parents used to use it - awful stuff!

I'm jealous of your sunsets, Gill, but I enjoy looking at your pictures.

There's toilet paper and toilet paper and I totally agreed with your thoughts on the matter. Cheaper stuff (and Izal) don't do the job it's intended to do so it pays to spend a bit more and get quality stuff.

It is snowing! Can't believe it. Left you a picture.

Are you sure Charmin is okay for your septic system?? Just read a very interesting article on septic systems in Mother Earth News. The tank must be pumped every two to three years because of insoluble materials that settle to the bottom of the tank - no way around it. If they rise too high, they flood the lines and clog them up. Liquid detergent is much better than powdered (can't remember which you make), because powdered detergent that doesn't completely dissolve will catch and build up in any curves or turns in the pipes. The writer said this enzyme treatment stuff is a lot of hooey, not to waste your money. Now you know! WOW.

You always have such pretty pictures! I've got to figure out how to turn the flash off on mine, but I hate instructions. Better hand it over to ComputerSon and let him figure it out for me. It's easier. Hey! Blessings, Liz

IZAL!!I'll have nightmares!
My Grandma used it and when we went to stay with her my Mum would always take our own soft loo paper. However, we had to sneak it into the bathroom with us because Grandma said it was unsanitary and not to be used in her house!
We do use Cascades because of the environmental factor ...bit rough but better than Izal anyday!!

Hi Gill,
Charmin is best left to the city folk. Our septic systems living in the country do not like it. We came very close to having a total blockage because of it. Thank heavens we were getting ours pumped..and he took one look and said are you using Charmin..yes!!! DON'T..it was floating on the top..huge amounts of it..it had not broken down..so beware. A new septic bed is around $10,000..ask me how I know..and I sure did not want to have to repair it.
Lots of soft ones out there but beware of those that can cause issues with our country living.

Very picky on TP - Cottonelle or Royale only - when there is a sale we buy TONS. Our spare room currently has a stack of 10 large packs. Def not something we skimp on or let run out :)

I remember in school having the little tri-folded pcs of TP - you needed to grab at less 10 to do a decent job! and horribly rough.

I have to confess to not being bothered about the softness - or lack thereof - of my toilet paper. Cascade is fine by me. Although, I might have some strong opinions if I'd ever encountered this Izal stuff!

Well I can go back to cut up squares of newspaper in the outside netty! Izal was a luxury.
Beautiful sunset.:-)

What a gorgeous sunset! We've been getting some pretty amazing ones up here too!

As for toilet paper, I am very picky, I can't stand scratchy, non absorbent brands where you have to buy again all the time.

Only the soft 3 ply for me. I remember the little shiny squares, and also cutting up newpaper, and Sears catalogues and putting them on a hook in the outside house with the half moon on the door.
Beautiful sunsets to end some lovely days that we are having at the present time.

toilet paper? cheaper the better it doesn't matter and I don't use three ply for reasons mentioned, hard on country septic systems and clogs them up.
