Kijiji, declutering and other delightful "stuff"

Had a little it of success on selling a couple more things on Kijiji.  Sold the dresser and the bed along with the mattress from the spare bedroom.  Still have the futon from the attic, and the table and chairs from the dining room to get rid of.  I also put up my Pflatzgraff Empire dinnerware on sale now that I have the Gordon Ramsey set.

There are 10 each of the dishes and plates and 7 mugs; not bad for $30.

Also had another clean through the drawers and closets and came up with this little lot:

I will drop them off tomorrow at the charity shop.  That will also mean I have get rid of my 25 things for the week.  I am of the mind that if I don't need these things why take them to the new house?  As the more we have to move the more it will cost us.

Has anyone watched the TV series Vikings?  What are your thoughts on it?  I would like to get it on DVD and watch it minus the adverts, but read some where it was very violent and blood thirsty?

There doesn't seem to be any let up of this bitter cold weather does there?  Then I heard on the TV we are in for a very cold March (SIGH)

We firmed up on our new home on the weekend and went to have a look around it to see the progress.  It has been weather proofed for a while with the frame up and the roof on and the windows and doors in.  They have now completed the framing inside.  Done the rough in for the plumbing and put all the duct work in for the heating.  The shower base is in, in our ensuite and the shower unit is in, in the downstairs bathroom.  We now have stairs to the basement.  They should be starting the electrical/wiring of the house soon.  All in all we are really pleased with the workmanship so far.

So happy to hear you both are pleased with your new home's workmanship. Glad you were able to sell some items, too. I know you are excited!

That's a very pretty set. I think, $30 is a good price for it. I think hulu has Vikings for free. you can watch a few episodes to see if you really like it.

It's all happening so quickly now, well done on the decluttering. I shudder to think how much I have here after 26 years. Oh well it's a while till I have to think about such things lol

Good for you getting that decluttering done. It was amazing what we got rid of and I don't even miss any of it.

One thing about moving is that it forces you to really get rid of things. I am so excited for your new home. I can't wait to see pictures.

You'll get it all sorted through.

Yes, that seems to be the forecast for March. A slow melt's probably for the best, anyway, what with the snowpack being as much as it is in the province.

Watched the first season of Vikings and we really liked it. It is very bloodthirsty and violent but it is probably closer to the truth than a lot of the 'historical' shows. We recorded the start of the new season and haven't watched it yet but they say it is even more violent than last season. I don't know how it would be watching season 2 without seeing season 1, it does follow on.

Oh, I need to do about a hundred things a week...I was doing pretty good for a while. I had an goal of just one thing a day...but it always led to more than one thing. Maybe I will get started again soon.

That grey dinnerware is very classy! But I like white plate sets too.

I like that 25 items idea Gill. I wonder if it will work for me?
We are BIG fans of Vikings in my house. My heritage is heavy on the Viking gene pool. My soft, quiet, gentle maternal grandmother used to tell stories. They are lost now, sadly as the following generations didn't follow oral history well.
The program is violent all right, but those were the times weren't they? There was a fabulous TV special about the making of Vikings. They went to the set (filmed mostly in Ireland by the way) and interviewed the principal actors. Lots of Canadian Content in that program!

My parents (I am face timing Mum right now) watched it all, it was amazing apparently, but very blood thirsty. I might have to give it a try!

Decluttering is quite a task and we did a lot when we first listed our home...lots of giveaway, donations and a few sales. Glad to see things are moving along so well for you and also with the construction on your new home too.
