Hate not being in total control............

I do my banking mainly online.  Despite seeing everything online I also complete my own cheque register with all the deposits and withdrawals as well; just to be doubly sure, I know total control freak.

I know when money is being taken out and when money goes into our accounts and I like it that way.  I have however got two withdrawals coming out of our account that I don't know exactly when and I have only a vague idea of how much and it's annoying the *rap out of me.

One is the discharge fee for when our mortgage finishes this week, I know it's around $320-ish but neither know when or exactly how much.  The other is our updated life insurance which is also in the $300+ mark but again I have no idea when?  That's between $650 to $700 I need to have available in our chequing account and I do not know when it will be taken out of our account.

I try to keep the bare minimum in there as if I know its there I am tempted to spend it.  Plus as I keep telling everyone we may be "house rich," but we are money poor so money is budgeted to wherever at every point of the month. (SIGH) things should get back to normal in the next couple of weeks, until then though, I am not in total control and it sucks...........

I have my life insurance put on a credit card for the airmiles and then pay it the minute it shows up on the online statement.

I don't remember paying to discharge our mortgage. The husband told our bank we'd given them enough over the years (at one point we had a 11.5% mortgage) that the bank could pay it. And they did, he just shouted.

Give it a try, remember that old saying if you don't ask, you don't get...

I am with you on liking to know when and what for and how much!

My daughter was just saying the other day, that their bank is wanting more money for the taxes...it is like you never really own anything. Always paying taxes.

You sound a bit like me. I like to know where every cent goes too. Sue

I'm the same Gill. I'd like to know why my house insurance keeps going up and up and up. I've paid AT LEAST the value of my house over the years!
This month has been a tight one. There is too much month left and no money!

Gill,
I'm like you a total control freak when it comes to banking plus house cleaning for me.
It's maddening not knowing when this will come out of your account.
So Glad your mortgage will be done with. Now you'll have to put the extra money away as if your still paying the mortgage. Nice feeling isn't it. We have about 12 months to go for our 2nd no mortgage home. It took lots of discipline to get to this state in our life's as you properly experience the same.
Congratulations on being mortgage free!!!!!!!!!!
