Merry Christmas to Dh and I.......

We bought our Christmas present to ourselves on Sunday morning.  10 sheets of drywall/plasterboard:

We also bought a carry handle thingy to carry the drywall, which turns out to be the best $7 we have spent as per dh:

Here is a close up of the writing:

This is something we will use over and over, and as I couldn't help dh lift the drywall this was worth every penny.

Dh's goal is to have the rest of the new basement drywalled, taped and sanded before Spring.

In case you think that's an awful gift, if we want anything we generally just go out and buy it when we see it, if it's in the budget, and we don't really want anything at the moment.  So we thought drywall was the perfect gift.

However, we are giving one another a $40 budget each to go out and buy a couple of small things for one another.   I am getting dh another book on renovating; they are actually the only books he will actually read.  Plus some scratch and (hopefully) win cards, and I am not 100% sure what else yet.

We call dry wall 'gyprock' here. It is so awkward to carry so I think it's a great gift to each other. Isn't it better to get something you can use that a trinket that will get 'lost' after the festivities? Maa

I think the new Winter Coats the Crabby Cabbie & all the other savings on items we purchased at Zellers last week will be our Christmas gifts to each other, especially with the business still being so new. I will be calling the local Home Hardware store here about the Crock Pot Lunch Containers, Gill, as I am sure that would work real well for us too, especially in the Winter months. Will let you know !

And people say romance is dead... ;) lol! Just kidding, we're the same way sometimes, if there's a need, it trumps the "wants"!

I think it's an awesome gift to each other. You'll have years to enjoy it. That "thingy"...WOW, wish we had known of it when we were doing our gyproc. Hugs

We do the same thing, buy something we need/want for the house after Christmas so it sounds good to me!!!
We are fortunate that we can buy whatever we need.

I see nothing wrong with drywall as a gift -- we have done the same thing in the past. Many times we have bought something for the house for the two of us -- it is a good thing!

Drywall can be the perfect gift! It is important to create projects like this, too! I love doing work on the house.
With hubby's back out I'm to go-to woman. sigh.
Hope your toe heals! Looks painful.
Love your header, too!
