First time making spaghetti/tomato sauce from scratch....

I had a big bag of tomatoes in the freezer from last fall, so figured I would attempt to make my own spaghetti sauce.  I softened a couple of sliced red onions and a couple of chopped green peppers in some olive oil, with a couple cloves of minced garlic.  Added my skinned tomatoes, a can of tomatoes as I thought there wasn't enough of my tomatoes.  Five ice cube size portions of tomato paste, salt and pepper, and Italian Seasoning.  I let is simmer for the morning.

I pureed it with a stick blender and voila tomato sauce.

I decided we would have some for lunch.  So I chopped up three slices of bacon finely and finely chopped half a red onion.  Fried them in the pan until they had softened, then added a couple of ladle spoons of sauce and seasoned to taste.  I cooked the bow tie pasta and threw it in the pan to mix it all up.

Sprinkled some parmasan cheese on top and a quick and easy great tasting lunch.

I could eat that every day as it was just so good........I want to try and make fresh pasta next.

Nothing like home made tomatoe sauce. It looks scrumptious. I bet it smelled good too.

Referring to your previous post, I am glad I did not make an effort to go to the Creative Show if it was not as good as the Fall one. Hope you had a good time with your dd. The fabric you purchased will make a great window seat covering, cushions and valance.
I am not a fan of pasta but yours does look quite tasty.

Gill,
Looks great and I'm sure it tasted even better.
We also freeze our tomatoes and make sauces from scratch.
Salsa was a big hit last year and it freezes nicely.
Can't wait to start planting in the garden.
