Poor Molly.......

Had her back at the vets yesterday for a follow up to her tooth extraction.  Anyhow, that is healing nicely and the vet was really pleased with her.

The poor Molly bit, is her allergies are playing up something rotten.  She barely has any fur left on her stomach with her scratching.  We have had a couple of "killing/hard" frosts so thought maybe things would calm down, but so far not.

One thing I think may be an issue is that we have the heating on a little more and the fire on every day now.  So the heat may be drying her skin out?  We do have a metal pot filled with water on top of the wood stove when it is on, so that put a bit of moisture in the air, but obviously not enough I guess?

She is a happy camper but her stomach looks pretty sore.  I may try and trick her into coming upstairs with me and having a bath to see if that will help?

I was going to add a photo of Molly, but for some reason blogger isn't uploading photos this morning?

(big font's = not much to say!!)

P.S. It's bloody well snowing = not happy :-(

Wow, your poor dog wandered into a good home with all the TLC you've given her. Hope her problem sorts itself out, it's strange how it defies diagnosis. ;-)

Hi Gill...Our pup is also having more troubles with her allergies. I increase her Venectal-P from 1 to 2 or even 3 tabs a day to get her under control then back it off as the weather changes. It is a hard drug for them but there seems to be no other choice and the Vet approves. It may be worth calling them to see if you can increase Molly's pills for a short time.
Raining here..better than snow!! Ugh!
Good luck ...Judi B.

Its bloody well snowing here too! I blame my sister in Australia who loves the snow.(So, she lives in Aus?????).
One of our cats,Jacob, gets allergy rashes so I gently rub on Vit E liquid(from capsules) and it helps with the soreness and healing. Perhaps it would help Molly. It is totally harmless so if it doesn't work then nothing lost.I use Jamiesons because they are all natural and not tested on animals.

Poor Molly indeed. Try going to a natural food store, they have natural supplements and things too and they would probably be able to suggest a cream for her tummy.

As for the snow...just think of the heat and humidity of this summer and the snow won't seem quite so bad since you seem to be like my mom and hate the heat more than the cold!

lots of spores in the air at this time of the year, aren't there. I hope Molly soon adjusts to the change in climate and temperature in the house. Have you tried baby oil for her skin?

I hope Molly's allergies calm down. My Goldie Girl has allergies and hot spots too. SHe is always scratching and licking her paws. She has licked the hair right off her poor paws. I have read that fish oil could help. Have you tried any special remedies for the allergies?

Hi Gill! Sorry to hear about Molly and her itchy belly. She may have a fungal infection or even mites. See if your local pharmacy has Prantal Powder (Diphemanil Methlysulfate 20mg/G). It's a powder for humans but I've found it good for my dogs when they get itchy spots and lose hair. It's not cheap but a little bit goes a long way and its great for sweaty feet LOL!

Snow, Uhh! Our spring is so cool I'm expecting snow as well! We had a snowfall on the mountains last week! Most unusual!

Poor little soul. Must be awful for her.

Snow? Do you normally get snow as early as this? It's amazingly mild here at the moment lots of leaves still on the trees. It'll probably change with a vengeance soon.

I know how Molly has these terrible flare ups and mentioned it to Good Sister (Maureen) who has a German Sherherd that suffers from much the same problems. Shadow is and in and out dog (out most of the day, in all night) and her Vet has discovered that she suffers from a type of yeast infection that she seems to have picked up from the pond. She's been on a series of pills (steroids) plus antibiotic. Funny thing is, Shadow has had this problem for ages and the new Vet is the first to determine the cause. Don't suppose Molly likes to splash about in ponds, rural or ornamental? Hoping she gets good relief, loving that Molly of yours you know!

Sometimes my cat needs a shot for her allergies. Sometimes I use Veterinarian's Best for my dog. It is hypo allergenic shampoo and I also buy a Hot Spot Itch relief spray. Both are kind of expensive I get them at my groomers and have seen them in pet stores. They last forever. Forever like in years if you just use it for a few times each time you need it. My dog just loves it because of the relief. Hope this helps.
