Last day of November already and a good deal.......

I can't be the only one who thinks this year has just flown by, am I?  Not sure if it's because I am getting older but I am finding time just flying by.  One minute it's the beginning of 2009, now we are on the countdown to 2010.

As most of you know we adopted Molly from the Toronto Humane Society back in August.  Unfortunately the Toronto Humane Society has been in the news this past couple of weeks, and not for the right reasons.  Please read this story (warning if you click on the photos on that page they are very graphic) and this one to let me know what you think.  Thankfully for what we can gather Molly was only in there for a few days.  It breaks your heart though knowing that some of these animals have been suffering.

I had a couple of good shopping days this weekend, as Shopper's Drug Mart was having a bonus redemption weekend.  I cashed in my points and was able to get $500 worth of product free. All I did was pay the taxes which came to less than $65.  So I was able to get some more Christmas presents, and stock up on a few items.  I now have only 8,500 points left, so I will continue to built those up over the next few months.  I think I have got either $700 or $900 worth of free stuff from Shopper's Drug Mart points this year!!

Now for the good deal, there is a coupon for $5 off no minimum purchase from Chapters from November 29th to December 1st, see here  I have to go out on Monday reasonably close to a Chapters, so I will be stocking up on a number of items.  By the way on that page there is a photo of a throw they are selling.   I bought one of those on the weekend for us, and it is just gorgeous and so soft, and well worth the money.

I finally have my appointment at the Allergists on Monday afternoon, so it will be interesting to see what he has to say.

that is appalling - so sad when places that are meant to be helping become a problem - and the animals that might be affected too.. certaitnly a few cases in those photos that were beyond reatment.
God luck with the allergist

I have had a hard time believing that story about the THS until I saw the photos. How could this happen? It's disgusting.
I want to hear more about your SDMart spends too. I am so impressed.

I heard about the Humane Society and I find it absolutely unspeakable...We have so many animal abuse problems in Canada because there are not strict enough laws protecting animals and it's just so sad.

On another note, I took advantage of the 5$ off at Indigo on Saturday, yay!

I couldn't bear to look at the pictures, but I'm so glad Molly got a good home quickly. Hope the colder weather will bring some relief to her allergies and yours, too. Blessings,

I knew better than to look at the photos of the animal shelter, Gill. I'd be in tears the rest of the day. It just breaks my heart when animals suffer. God bless you for adopting Miss Molly and providing her with a loving home.

You are not alone when it comes to wondering where the year has gone. I'm speechless ~ and that doesn't happen very often. Heehee!

First off, NONE of the money should be used to pay any legal fines or lawyers for the idiots that were suppose to be running the Humane Society. Also the people working there should not receive pay, I can't believe they couldn't have all helped to keep it cleaner than what the pictures showed, plus why didn't they put the ones that were so sick and in pain, down, rather than let them continue to live in filth and pain? Why didn't the staff turn them in before things got so bad? It makes you sick to your stomach. We have it here also. Some people that board animals were caught letting them live in filth and this one place, the animals would die and they were suppose to be burying them in a pet cemetery, instead they were piling them up behind a barn. Why, lazy, just didn't care, no feelings, or in my opinion, they are mentally sick people.

my appointment with the allergists is next monday.

good deals! wish I had some money for chapters before the coupon runs out, why can't it be for next weekend, my birthday and payday

I think paying their salaries is despictable and down right immoral. I hope somebody can step in, typical that the governmnet says their hands or tied. in the end it will be the animals that suffer.

I'm afraid I couldn't bring myself to go to the link, not this late at night. I just find that kind of thing so sad. I hope now they have been found out they will get their act together. It's awful to think of a place that is supposed to be taking care of animals not doing so. Sounds like Molly's little angel was looking after her when she sent you to her.
