We had a couple of enjoyable days away at Niagara-On-The-Lake to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary, and we had such a good time. We stayed at the Butler Creek House Bed and Breakfast, in the Carolina Balcony Suite.
Now I have to say we are a hotel or cottage type of couple, and had never stayed in a B & B over here, but it was really nice. The room's we had were very spacious, and the breakfast's were to die for!!!! There was fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, banana bread, a variety of hot cooked meals. Dh opted for the english muffin, topped with ham, cheese and eggs both days, but you could have had pancakes, waffles, bagels, fried eggs and bacon. I am sure I am missing some things, but suffice to say you didn't leave the table hungry.
The B & B was unfortunately not really walking distance to the main street, but it was only a couple minutes driving. Actually, I suppose you could walk it, but it would be a hike and I am allergic to exercise at the best of times!!!!
Niagara-On-The-Lake is so pretty, and there are a lot of old buildings. This one was located in the middle of the town, and I think is the town administration building now.
One of the many places to stay is the Prince of Wales Hotel. It looks so pretty but it is very pricey. I had wanted to go in there for Afternoon Tea, but dreaded to think how much it would have cost, so we didn't go in.
We called in at The Trisha Romance Gallery, which was once her actual home. It is a gorgeous Victorian House, and the detail inside is stunning. We were going to buy a painting, but I am not a huge fan of hers, so didn't bother.
We ate dinner on the Thursday night at the Riverbend Inn & Vineyard I personally think that was probably the highlight of our trip as we had a superb meal there. It actually wasn't as pricey as we thought it might be, we paid $110 and that included starters for both of us. Me a soft drink, dh a couple glasses of wine, main course, dessert for me and coffee for both of us. The ambiance of the place was worth every penny, as the dining room over looked the Peller Estates vineyard, very, very pretty.
That is a brief overview of Niagara-On-The-Lake. I am going to do a couple of separate posts on the Welland Canal, as we had a great time there and have some really interesting photo's, and Niagara Falls.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time, and the photos were lovely. I enjoyed my tour of Niagara-on-the-Lake. It looked lovely. Looking forward to the canal photos when you have the time to post. Have a great Saturday!
Just saw that you were going to post some photos of Niagara also. What an incredible place. I would love to go there with Gregg. We have both been there separately but never together. Maybe for our next anniversary. I think you have planted the seed.
It is worthwhile going. We prefer Niagara-On-The-Lake better than Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls reminds me of Blackpool...if you know what I mean?
Yes, I know what you mean :))))
What a beautiful place! It sounds like you had the most wonderful time. And how wonderful to be able to celebrate 25 years together:) What a blessing.
oh what a lovely place to stay and visit. And a belated congrats on the 25 years together. That is wonderful. :-)
